Black Cars - The experienced users for deep wet look!

Why wouldnt I apply just zaino in the first case. What is the point of buying menzera or poorboys?

Zaino's Z5 is a chemical polish/cleaner. It doesn't fix defects. If you want a Zaino equivalent of Menzerna or Poorboys, then try out the new Z-PC.

So Z-PC to fix defects, Z5 to clean the paint and Z2 to seal.

All the pics look the same to me really.

90% of the look comes from polishing the paint, the 10% is what "wax" you put down.

In this 10% catagory it will only make perhaps a 2-3% difference what exact wax you use.

The differences are pretty small, on a perfect finish.

It would be better to match your use of the car(Daily Driver, Garage Queen), needs(climate), and your expectations(Durability, dust attraction, filling) of a "wax", then we can filter out some of the choices.

So you use this to prep the paint and actually clean it? Then you use z5 then z2? Z5 is a swirl remover, so I guess its more in depth when cleaning your car with the different things for the paint.

Dark color surfaces, especially black, will sometimes leave you with a slightly hazy or milky surface after using Z-PC. Whats that mean?? That mean no good on black car. Will that go away?

This is very incorrect. Z5 is not a chemical polish/cleaner. It is a sealant with some very slight filling properties.

Man ! That IS ONE SHINE !!!

Congratulations... :bigups

I will post some of wife's black bug later but here are a couple of my Starex' s... Will send a few more later on...

So what is the best for black cars. It seems like every polish or wax or brand is all the same really. I just want the deepest shine like that EVO. How the hell does a car get that shiny. I have z5, z2 already. So I need the Z-pc for prep? I dont get how this whole detailing paint stages work.

Paint cleaning is the most important step. It involves the use of solvents and abrasives to remove scratches, embedded dirt, stains, etc. There are many different paint cleaners available, varying in the type, size, and quantity of abrasive they contain. To get the best results, you'll likely need to go over your car with a medium strength cleaner to remove the hazing and swirl marks. You'll then follow that with a fine cleaner to burnish the paint to a high shine. You might try Zaino Z-PC followed by Menzerna FP II.

Glaze is the next step and is optional. Glazes contain oils and fillers that primarily hide any remaining defects. If you've done an excellent job at cleaning, then there isn't much benefit to be had with glaze.

Wax is the last step and is primarily to protect the paint. Some waxes are also good at hiding defects. Again, if you've done an excellent job with the cleaining the wax will make little difference to the appearance. There are also synthetic products, like Zaino Z2, which serve the same purpose as wax.

TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION CORRECTLY ONE WOULD HAVE TO KNOW THE CONDITION OF YOUR PAINT. SOME CARS NEED MORE PREP THAN OTHERS. IF YOU HAVE LIGHT SWIRLS Z-PC FUSION WOULD MOST LIKELY BE ENOUGH. THAN Z-1, Z-5, AND FINALLY Z-2PRO. Z-5 MAY OR MAY NOT BE NEEDED DEPENDING ON THE PAINT AFTERZ-PC FUSION.

IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF MORE CORRECTING, MENZERNA HAS A LINE THAT WOULD HELP GET YOUR PAINT IN CONDITION FOR THE Z-2PRO. THEY ARE....IP AND FPll. HAVING USED THESE PRODUCTS I FIND THAT THEY WILL HELP A LOT OR COMPLETELY CORRECT MOST PROBLEMS. YOU THEN COULD USE Z-PC THEN Z-1, Z-5 OR SKIP Z-5 AND GO TO Z-2PRO. WELL THAT IS HOW I WOULD DO IT. ZFX WOULD BE NICE TO HELP GET MUTIPLE COATS OF Z-2PRO ON IN ONE DAY.

Do I apply everything with a PC?

This should be the basic detailing routine for a full detail (no matter which products you choose):

1. Wash the car

2. Claybar the car to remove surface contamination

3. Wash the car again if necessary to remove clay residue

4. Polish the car with an abrasive and/or cleaner as necessary to remove swirls, oxidation, etc.

5. Protect the car with a sealant and/or wax

6. Clean glass

7. Dress rubber, trim, and wheel wells

If you have the pads to do the whole detail then go ahead. I personally have used a PC for an entire Zaino detail on my truck and found it to do an equitable job. the polishes are the ones that the PC will have the most benefit. Applying Z-2Pro with a PC is strictly optional. Have done both. I found it easier to get a thin layer with the PC but faster to use a hand applicator.

Although I have read others say that they buff with a PC and MF bonnet on a pad with good results. It is my personal preference to buff with a quality MF by hand.

If we need to show the personal Souveran pics on our Black Car.....

Prep is the key !!!

Ahh, my mistake. It was advertised by Zaino to be a polish that hid swirls and scratches, so I equated it with it being like a traditional non-abrasive polish while Z2 was the sealant (Zaino says to apply Z2 pro over Z5).

ZaneO said:
Zaino suggests applying Z2 Pro over Z5 because Z2 Pro has slightly better optical qualities. :)

I see, so you get the gloss from Z2 pro while getting the depth from the Z5 underneath?

Huh? So Z5 is for prepping the surface as well? So it is like a cleaner/polish/sealant all in one?

No. Just as I explained earlier, it's a sealant with slight filling properties. If your prep is good, there isn't any reason for fillers. There is no cleaning or polishing associated with Z5.
