5-Series BMW Brought Back to Life!! (Another Wetsand Job)

Jokeman- Ha, ha... Like I always say... "I can do whatever I want, as long as she says it's OK" :grinno:

Totoland Mach- Thanks for info Toto. Anything to make my job easier!

jwgarrison- Thanks!

Denzil- No problem. It is one of my favorite compounds to use.

rwisejr- Thanks! It look awesome in person! The camera does a great job capturing exactly what it lok like in person

Da Gonz- They wetsanded and compounded around the doorhandles before they were reinstalled so there would be no risk of buring them.

artikxscout- Thanks Sam!

Deanski-[/B] Thanks for the info Dean. Does the 12K grit come in discs, or just in sheets for sanding by hand? I would appreciate any other info you have. The body shop definitely needs to start using a finer grit paper on this particular paint because it is so hard. I am going to try to get my hands on some 8K and 12K discs from Micro-Surface recommended by David Fermani.

Thanks for the kind words!

Yes they have both sheets and disks, 5" or 6" no hole or with holes. Also rolls and pads as well.

The source I get my paper from is Micro-Mesh: Micro Mesh Products

You just keep doing what your doing which is real art from an artisan. It's bad enough dealing with poor or improper paint cure, but to try and correct really hard paint is a tough way to earn a living! Try it with Ceramiclear. When it was just released, I did one car that had such a bad curing of the clearcoat as no one really had a good read on this new stuff. I may as well have taken an air chisel. Damn clear was impossible to level, but once you find the right combo, then it starts to improve.

After sanding, I had to compound it, and that's when I used Menzerna for this and a wool pad. It was at first (using a wool pad and being careful) like the damn finish was laughing back at me. You really have to be agressive with it.

BMW paint is not quite as bad, but still, some are like polishing a stone when you take the normal procedure.

Love to see the end results when all the trim and the LSP on

Deanski

Deanski- Thanks for the info Dean. I'll have to pick up some of the discs for the body shop to try on the next job to see how much of a difference it makes.

JBs Thanks!

Amazing work, the pics are great but im sure the transformation that takes place on a process like that in person is mind blowing!

all I can say is I wish I had 1/3 of your skills that is absolutely amazing and only in 40 hrs wow incredible.:xyxthumbs

mixxer- It's definitely something you have to see in person! When my clients are dropping their vehicles off to me and see the car all wetsanded in the shop, they really don't know what to think of it. They usually say something like  " why in the world would they want to get this car detailed?" or "what happened to the paint?". LOL

Thanks for the compliments!

blown1 Thanks a lot! It's hard to believe it only took 40 hours. It felt like an eternity!

Amazing job on a wonderful car. Which e39 was that anyway?

Are you going to do the correction on the bumpers as well?

Fabulous! I want my 540i to look that flawless!
