Werkstatt Prime/Arylic Jett v2

ShoKar was the Nano version of Carlack. The project became too involved for us and was interfering with our main goal, expanding eShine. Creating or even re-labeling a product is a lot more work than one would think! We bit off more than we can chew and scrapped the project! We are glad we did! There was also way to much legal mumbo jumbo when selling chemicals under your own name. We found its just waaaay easier to sell proven brands than create your own.

eShine! Congrats to you for knowing the right move for you. The people on the other side of the desk (or counter) don't really know what it's like.

Now that's phunny! What a problem to have.

John, I'm a bit disappointed that your camera isn't working. I'd luv to see a few pictures. Glad to hear it went well for you.

:waxing:

Tom,

It's not that it don't work, I do not have a digital. Besides, my point and shoot is on it's way out. I do have my camera phone, but I'm sure that does not take good quality pics. You will just have to take my word for it. Well, you could come over and see it, lol

So who else besides Jeff retails "Werkstatt" products?

His inventory seems to be low. Any idea when the next supply replenishing will occur? :nixweiss

How does Werkstatt QD stack up against Sonus Acrylic Spritz?

TIA

I tried Prime and AJ this weekend. As a long time Zaino user, I'm looking for something that is a little less involved.

I washed the car and it looked pretty good with all the coats of Zaino I built up, but the horizontal surfaces weren't silky smooth, so I hit them with the Sonus ultrafine clay. I applied Prime with the PC using the Sonus blue pad at a speed of 5. I had to change pads halfway through since the Prime cleaned so much old stuff off the surface. I had lunch and fixed a leaky faucet, so didn't get back to the car until an hour and a half later. I broke our my Meguiars plush cotton terrys to buff the Prime off. The cotton cloths seem to do better with difficult products. They didn't let me down. The Prime buffed out effortlessly. At this point, I didn't recognize my car. The silver was.... Well, really silver and the metal flake just popped. I don't know if it was all the layers I built up over the winter that toned down the color or what, but I don't remember the same results with AIO topped with Z2.

I followed that up with a coat of AJ Trigger using MF towels to apply. I agree with the original poster. The next time I will use a foam applicator. It wasn't difficult to do or anything, it just seems to waste too much product.

The look and feel gets better over time and I would say is comparable to Zaino. I eliminated a step by not having to apply Z1 to the car first or mess with any mixing bottles. I'll reserve my opinion on it's durability until I do my annual 2600 mile trip to see mom. So far Zaino is the only thing that has survived that test.

No one. Jeff is the importer. Just think of him as Klasse with a phone and email. Well, even more than that. Try this www.carlackusa.com and see where you wind up (notice the URL when the page loads). How about Klasse with a newer product, actual tech support, and transparency to boot?

Edit: Didn't mean to sound like a "zealot", I have never even used Werkstatt product. I guess I was just reacting to the previous Klasse secrecy, and admiring how Jeff not only had brought the newer products to this market, but has done it with admission that it's a Carlack product, as well as "tuning" some specific products the way he sees fit. No minor undertaking.

So ShoKar is Werksett? I thought this was the case. :doh I also tested beta-ShoKar for eShine.

Very easy product to use. Wasn't impressed with durability of the initial appearance but being so easy to apply this should not present a problem.

This product was good for a quickly applied product and one that one would love to use in the winter if forced to apply outdoor.

The finished version is definitely different, it almost seems like Shokar was a watered down version, it was a lot thinner than the finished product, Werkstatt. The clear look is similar but Werkstatt has more depth than Shokar. Whatever tweaks they made from Shokar to Werkstatt improved the looks and durability with a slight ease of use trade off.

Thanks Scott.

When Jeff replenishes is stocks, is there an Autopian discount code?

Scott or anyone that has used both, what is the difference(s) between AJ and Trigger?

AJ I apply with a MF pad in a WOWO method, doing a small section at a time. with Trigger use it like a QD, spray on and wipe off. I have been suprised with the durability of AJ. just started using Trigger since it came out, so durability will tell with time. shoot me a PM please.

I am not aware of any discount codes. It takes so little product to cover a car that in the end, Werkstatt products are very economical.

AJ is conventionaly applied with foam hand applications, Trigger is applied and removed like a QD (although should only be used on clean, well prepped surfaces) but looks just like regular AJ. Not sure if the extreme ease of use compromises durability much, but even if it is half, I'd expect 2.5-3 months durability with it. The only other trade off is you use a bit more product per vehicle, although the price per bottle is less.

I atest to that. I have done two full size cars so far and on one car put 3 coats of AJ.

I have used less than 2 ozs of PS and less than 2ozs of AJ.

UPDATE: Well, it's been about 20 hours and the paint has taken on a different contrast you could say. Much deeper/wetter look now, but still very glossy/mirror like to it.

Thanks for the review John, I was looking up carlack too and you can't buy anything off their site, they just directed me too werkstatt site. I always thought carlack and klasse were the same, but it appears that werkstatt and carlack are the same. But I here everyone say that klasse and werkstat are different, is that you opinion John? I just used klasse sg/aio on my wifes car and it looked pretty awesome and it feels like the best protection I've seen, and my SG bottle is over three years old. Gotta love the economical SG!

Uhg, if I have to order this stuff and pay duty and brokerage on it I'm blaming all of you! :D

Edit - nevermind, half their inventory is out of stock.

Never tried AIO/SG, but they cannot be that far apart, at least what I've read/seen. I highly recommend the Werkstatt twins for sure. I also have some Satin Prot, but have not used it yet. Thinking of getting the Auto Body Wash and Quick Wash soon. Tomorrow I will try out the Arylic Glos.

As has been discussed in (several) other threads, it was long rumored that Klasse was a US version of the Carlack products, I believe it was Autopian Bence (European automotive journalist) who definitively (as definitive as these things get) got an answer that Klasse was made by Carlack, although perhaps not exactly the same formula as available in Europe. Carlack recently (last couple of years) updated their formulas, and for whatever reason, decided to market the new formulas in the US through a different channel. As I noted in an earlier post, Jeff's Werkstatt has taken a more transparent approach as the importer/distributor/marketer/blending specifier for the Carlack product than Klasse ever did.
