I wish everyone besides us hobbyists/detailers/etc are well educated when it comes to washing cars and detailing.

Then the pros wouldn't make any money, and our cars wouldn't stand out from the crowd!

Good luck on the Benz, you have your work cut out but it's definitely a car worth saving.

You'll be ok. Odds are you will need to spin the rotary up pretty fast with HC to really put a dent in the marring. I didn't see it asked; do you have EC?

You know that thing's bad when Picus isn't saying you should use a PC. :shocked

wow i hope he's having better luck then i am lol

i just finished a 96 explorer for the Mass Turnpike Authority with 169k miles on the odometer, 2 passes (maybe 3 dont remember) with OC and Orange (wish i bought that OHC now) and 2-3 passes with OP on white. My thread should be up soon after i wash up and resize my pics

LOL.

This car would've laughed at the PC, the swirls were horrendous, and on every square inch of the car. It made for a very long day. The S430 is one huge car man, i'm exhausted.

Gonna have to wait a couple more minutes while I upload the pics.

Well, yes and no. My expectation was to finish the car today so I could do an Acura TSX tomorrow but that guy rescheduled so I decided to break it down over two days. Today I washed, clayed and did the paint correction. I had to do two passes over the entire car with HTHC with an LC CCS orange pad on 2500-3000 rpm.

So tomorrow will be spent polishing it to perfection and then sealing the deal with either DG 105 topped with DG AW or CMW topped with JW CJ. It'll be a game time decision:chuckle:

Alright, today I just did the paint correction so here are some pics of the results I achieved with rotary/LC CCS Orange/HTHC.

Outstanding!

How do you like the CCS pads?
Thanks, I'm anxious to get the final polishing/waxing/sealing done so I can see it glisten in the sun.

Not thrilled with the CCS pads. First, they are cheaply made. I'm getting some velcro separation already and this was my first time using the damn things. When I bought my PC package, it came with 7.5" LC VC pads, there's a night and day difference between them and these POS. I have yet to have one of the VC pads shed on my, these things were shedding all day, it's crazy how much of a difference there is on these pads compared to others LC offers.

Although the 7.5" pads are huge, they are built like all pads should be, if they'd make these CCS pads the same way then I'd buy them again. But until then, ain't gonna happen.

Holy crap, I sure am glad you posted this! I have to order a backing plate tonight and was going to get some more LC CCS pads so the shipping wasn't all just for a backing plate!

I am really itching to see tomorrows finishing photos. One can already see the awesome transformation taking place!

Yeah man, I'm gonna write to LC to give them some feedback on these pads.

I finally got the car done!!! Today's process included IP/RMG via PC w/LC CCS Green followed by VM via PC w/LC CCS White, and topped off with CMW via PC w/LC CCS Red, using DG AW to remove the haze of the CMW via MF by hand.

After that I cleaned all the glass in and out, vacuumed the interior, detailed the door jambs, protected the dash with NXT Cockpit Shine, treated the leather with Meguiar's Gold Class Leather conditioner, polished the rims with Mother's Chrome polish and treated the tires with Meguiars High Endurance tire gel. I then got in the car to start it up so I could pull it out of the garage................car wouldn't start. Apparently something was left on overnight so the battery was dead. So the best I could do is roll the car forward until it was nose to nose with his son's Expedition which was in the driveway.

Which CCS pads do you have? Classic Motoring type with the blue foam between the actual pad and loop surface or the Autogeek type where the actual pad is glued to the loop?

I ask this because I have had no issues with my CCS pads that were purchased as fast as they were available.

OH MAN! That is one hell of a transformation. You brought the mirrir out of that Mercedes. What's CMW? Also, how did you get the scratches out behind the door handles? I still can't believe you were able to get those horrible swirls out. That car went from gray to black :D
