I have a new black 911. Should I use Zaino on it. I've used Zaino on all of my other cars(red and white) and I love the look. I know there used to be some debate that zaino didn't look as good on black as a carnuba did. In reading the archives it looks like view may have changed, it looks like a lot people love Zaino for black.

Opinions?

Some like Z5 Pro on darks, some like Z2Pro. As small as the car is, get a nice carnauba and Zaino and test it out, only way to know for sure.

As an owner of a 997 C2S with Aero, PCCB's etc etc also in black, you can say YES, Zaino works very well!

See a few pics I posted here: http://autopia.org/forum/car-driver/65331-my-new-porsche-carrera-s-9.html

The trick is getting the finish as flawless as possible, giving it a high gloss polish, then treat with Zaino Z5-Pro with ZFX for 3 coats. Next day, I added 3 coats of Z2-Pro with ZFX.

Between each coat, Z6 was used and last coat of each sealant (Z5 to Z2) was treated with Z8. Once Z2 cured, maintained with Z8. VERY GLOSSY and DEEP. Zaino is closing in on that deep wet wax look. Almost, but not quite.

I like the fact that it lasts a long time, is easy to maintain and I just top with another coat when needed.

If you go the wax route, use Souveran.

If you really want to make it stand out, after last coat of Z2-Pro and Z8, top with Souveran wax. You'll not get any deeper and wetter than that.

Funny thing, since quite a lot of us will top a sealant (mostly to tone-down the plastic look of other sealants) Blackfire has developed a kit called "Fire and Ice" that has both a sealant and a wax.

If this is a 997, you'll see my posts over at RENNLIST.

Oh yea, for leather for a Porsche that's new... SONUS Leather cleaner and SONUS Leather Conditioner. They smell a bit odd out of the bottle, but once on the Porsche leather, it releases the natural tanning odor from when it was new. For Porsche leathers, this is by far the best I've found. Besides, DavidB of Autopia (Mayor) is also a "P" car owner and went to great lengths to develope that unique new Porsche leather smell. He used a set of new skins still sealed in the plastic from Porsche to get the right effect.

I still love Zaino Z-10, but it's too overpowering for a new 997. It uses a leather fragance which is dead-on to most leathers. It's just not for Porsche new interior leather. It's dead-on for Lexus leather. Z-10 was all I used in my SC430.

as far as technology goes, Zaino kills the competition. Some really like PS and don't mind the lack of durability tho.

zaino topped with a carnuba does look very nice but I have to stress Z8 is amazing at adding depth/wetness to zaino

Agreed.

See the posts on "Breaking Zaino News" for more info on some newer products to be released soon!

Well then there's the wax I use that is 60% Saber-Toothed Puruvian Mountain Yak virgin ear wax, and 40% African Jungle Chihuahua fromunder cheese harvested with an antique wooden spoon by toothless tribeswomen who then cure it between their cheek and gum for 7 1/2 hours. It costs $7,000 an ounce, and there's a 5-year waiting list, and if you get caught with it in U.S. customs, you're shipped to Guantanamo Bay.

Of course, once you wax your car with it the result is not much different than a $7 bottle of Meguiars, but that's where you have to fly in a genuine hindu swami who will bring you into such a pure state of meditation that you'll swear it looks better, and was well worth the price...:lol

Not knocking PS, but the "UBER" waxes that some 911 owners seem to be drawn to.

LOL-kind of like a Porsche owner who can't figure out how a solid stick rear axle Camaro just passed him through the corners on the road course.:idea Sometimes it isn't what you own but rather how you prep and use it.:woohoo:

lol, that killed me. I was in our 1980 911 SC prepped for racing, light and very quick, I'll never forget when some very well setup fox body mustang overtook me in a corner and left me for dead in the straight (was running a s/c 331). He only did like 5-6 laps before he had to pull over to cool the engine (s/c heat soak) but damn that fox body could move lol. There was a GT3 in the group that was modded by Manthey that he ***** slapped as well lol. Not only could he drive but anybody that says live axles don't handle should have seen that car out there lol.

Zaino works well with all colors. Some like Z5p w/zfx with black and some like adding Z2p w/zfx. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and part of the fun is finding out for yourself...

Good luck.....:xyxthumbs
