About to order Zaino, two ?

About to order some Zaino. This is what I have on my list:

Z1 (or ZFX??), Z5, Z6 and Z2

Sould I get the Z1 or ZFX? this car has never been zainoed before.

So I just add ZFX to the first coat of Z2? Do I have to add ZFX each time I apply Z5 or Z2? Also, should I apply a glaze before Zainoing the car?

My vote's for the ZFX. I use it every time with Z2 or Z5 since it accelerates curing and drying.

Don't use a glaze before Z. Zaino needs a clean surface to bond to and glaze leaves behind lots of fillers and oils that you'll need to wash off. Polish the paint properly with an SMR or whatever. Wash the car then bust out the Zaino.

I mix a 1/2oz batch of Z5 w/ZFX which will do my Seville twice on the flat surfaces and once on the sides. I then follow with a straight (no ZFX) application of Z2. Since that is about as much as I want to do in a day I dont put the ZFX in the final coat.

just ordered the stuff:

Z-2, Z-5, Z-6, ZFX, #341 (x2)

hopefully $70 well spent (and from what I hear it is really good stuff)

It was some of the best $$ I ever spent!

You won't be sorry.....:up

You didn't get the Z7 car wash? It's one of the best products I've ever used! You can always get it later. Have fun with Zaino!

To get the best results, follow what Sal Zaino has posted on the Zainobros website under tips & tricks.

Strip the wax: Dawn dishwashing liquid

Clay the vehicle, wash again, this time with Z7 or whatever really good car wash product Meguiars 00.

Use the ZFX with both Z5 and Z2, and use the Z6 spray between coats. Nice stuff that Z6!

I've used Meguiars #9 ver 2 to remove most of the swirls, then cleaned again with Z6, let sit overnight, then proceeded with Z5/Z2 coats and Z6.

Use 100% USA cotton towels as he says: Royal Velvet etc

TAKE YOUR TIME! You will be rewarded with a stunning vehicle after your hard work.

Enjoy the Zaino with ZFX!

Just used the Z-2 and ZFX for the first time over the weekend and the stuff is great. Much better than wax. I failed to use the Z-6 between coats though so I'll have to remember that for next time. The washing with Dawn and using the clay bar really helped immensely as well. I am very excited about my first real detail.

From what I understand now, I can wash with regular car wash (Meguiar's Gold Class), then just dry and use the Z-6?

Bucky,

Yep, just wash and Z6 it! Maybe one day try the Z7 wash, not bad and it was made for the product line anyway.

Gotta love that Zaino! Getting great results on a Red car!

Amazing what a clay bar removes huh? And that was on the paint!

You did wash again, this time with the Meguiars after they clay work?

That Z6 stuff is great! It replaced the Meguiars #34 Final Inspection in my supplies. Z6 does a great job of refreshing the finish and it is so slick!

Enjoy the product, I sure am!

Snakeman..I am the first to admit. I am not really a truck guy. A truck is a truck. But your truck is SWEET!!! I don't even know what I am looking at. But something looks special. Something looks meaner. Is that a custom grille and front end? What kind of wheels are those? Stock size? What is it about that truck? It's more that the whacky purple glow and the fantastic Zaino shine! Rock on!:bow

Brad... Yea.. it is totally customized. new front bumper, billet grill, roll pan. I put a 2/4 lowering kit on, which accents the stock 20" wheels alot better and looks real even stance. take a look at my cardomain site. just click on the link.

thanks for the compliments:D

Louisiana Jeeper, glad to hear you took the plunge. In my gallery are some pix of my Olde English White Jag with Zaino. It is indeed awesome. Be sure to check out Nick's Zaino Tips and Tricks here in Autopia, in adition to the Zaino site.

I don't know why some people talk about Zaino being labor-intensive. Yeah, you need to do careful prep. But I believe it gives a great basecoat that will protect you from bad doobies on the road. For starters, I can attest to how it protected my Jag from the winter salt and dirt ... but it's spring! so who wants to think about winter?! :D

Oh, great. Well, it has already been shipped out so is there any locally available car shampoo that will not harm the finish. I have some stuff right now called "KIT wax carwash"(it is yellow) that contains regular wax. I think this is bad for the Zaino, at least that is what I have read. Also, do I HAVE to Z6 after every wash to maintain shine?

I'll try the Z7 in a couple months (along with some more Z6), but something about throwing another $8 away on shipping.

I would not recommend KIT car wash with carnauba wax in it for Zaino.

No you don't have to Z6 after every wash, maybe after every 2nd or 3rd wash Z6, and after every 5th or 6th wash put on a coat or two of Zaino. It also depends on what kind of car it is. A concours show car or a daily driver, or a mud flapping, mud rolling, hunters truck (those Jeep commercials are funny especially when the youngest son gets like 1400 acres of uninhabitable marsh land.) If it is a garage queen, don't have to apply Zaino often, if its a daily driver apply it often, and if its a fun, get em dirty car, use more often.

Well whats your zip code? I can probably cut down shipping to $4-$5 2-3 day priority because I got a Z distributer near me which is 2 blocks form the post office. I can go plan something Saturday and ship it out that same day, and you'll most likely get it Tuesday (in time for the weekend.)

You don't HAVE to Z6 after every wash or as a quick detailer all the time but you will WANT to use Z6 all the time! It fantastic stuff! The improvement in shine and slickness it instantly makes to the finish is remarkable. At home I will tell my wife to hand me the "wonder juice" and she knows what I want! :D

Z6 is tied as one of my best smelling products.(along with Megs Endurance tire dressing)

Ilike how easy it is to use, but don't find as big of a difference using that, as say Mothers Showtime over carnauba.

I'm glad I've topped with carnauba now, so I can showtime. It's cheaper, lasts longer, smells almost as good, and shines much, much more deeply.
