Why does everyone think poorboys is the best?

Well said silverlexus

It is my belief that no one brand makes the best of everything

I like PB SSR's for plastics with the rotary and pro polish for all the surfaces it can be used on (good as a spray polish)

I have 55 brands of products, most of them being autopian boutique quality

Klasse twins are not the best IMO

Definately good but polylack nano seal and werkstatt Jett range is way better

I think we all like the smell of Poorboy's World products :D

But we all like a different mix of everything.

Well, you might be wrong about the "we all" part. The Natty's Blue that I use and love for it's performance totally nauseates me with it's sweet "bubble gum" smell.

Opinions are like ***holes, everyone has one. I personally have been a Z user since around 1999, but recently (since discovering this wallet-draining website :lol ) have purchased several Poorboy's products. Of course Zaino can't be matched as far as durability, but I'll take the Clearkote RMG/Natty's blue combo on my black car anyday over the Z. The Z blinds you with reflections, but the Natty's makes it look like you can stick your arm in the paint. That's the look I'm going for, so the Z sits on the shelf collecting dust. Good thing I'm almost out!

Well I'm not sure what your process is but my biggest concern was wetness/"liquid look" when I tried Zaino. I left behind a magic combo of AIO and Souveran once I saw that Z-2 Pro & ZFX were just as wet. Then Z-8 came out and made it possible to have a "just waxed" look after every wash with just a qd and I was hooked. My car has reflectiveness and wetness.

Don't get me wrong, the Z was definitely wet. The paint just seems deeper and darker to me. However, there's been several comparison pictures on here that many of you can tell a difference and I can't. I've been detailing a good while, but don't have the experience as some.

Another reason the Z is collecting dust is the fact that I've run out of Z1 and ZFX.

As a Zaino users on my personal vehicles I use Poorboy's products on most of my firends vehicle. I do not detail for money but do it for entertainment and the ooo's and ah's that the owners give me when they see their vehicle after a detail.

Zaino must be appreciated. Taken care of and tended to get the best shine. Most people only want a shine for a day. Then it rains and the shine is forgotten. Poorboy's give a shine for a day and protection besides. Being a mobile enthusiast it is nice to be able to work in the sun. A very nice option when one considers that the sun does not set for many months in Alaska where I do most of my friends vehicles.

I find that carnaubas tend to darken paint which can be good in some ways (adding wetness on dark cars) but Zaino is very optically clear. That may explain part of what you are seeing. Natty Blue is definitely a great quality wax.

That's exactly it, I just couldn't think of how to phrase it. My car is inside all the time and rarely driven in rain, so I prefer a carnauba because durability isn't an issue. I like the deep, dark look it gives vs. the shiny, wet, reflective look of a sealant. I also have a bottle of EX-P. Very nice product, but can't compare with Zaino. The EX-P comes out on the rare occasion I do a paying job.

One thing I just thought about......when I say zaino I mean Z2 and Z5, not Z2 Pro and Z8. I haven't used either of those yet. I may have to hit up the local distributor at the car show in a few weeks!

Best is very subjective. Zaino is pretty much tops although other quality products do exist. If durability isn't an issue(more frequent applications) then Poorboys can deliver equal results to Z.

Well they certainly enhance the wetness with a better formula.

Honestly, Z2 Pro and Z8 have taken Zaino's appearance and durability to a completely different level. Quite different from the older products you're used to.

I use Meguiar's and will continue to until I run out of a specific product. Then, and only then... will I purchase Poorboys or Zaino or any of the other boutique brands.

Maybe ignorance is bliss, but my wallet thanks me and I have no other product comparisions to keep me up at night looking for deals. I am very tempted though...

I love Poorboys stuff, but not sure I'd always classify it as the best. My pewtrid metallic SUV is a good example. I've tried EX-P, but it doesn't come close to Four Star UPP...from any perspective - pop, slickness, or durability.

I love the SSR polishes though. Very easy to use and effective for an amateur like myself.

A lot of it comes down to color, I think. My wife's truck - GM's silver birch "metallic" (quotes since there sure isn't much in there) is always a mystery. EX followed by Natty's blue is the absolute best combo I've found, and I've tried a bunch. My black pickup also loves the combo, although UPP followed by P21S is my only real comparison there.

I'm still experimenting, even though my go-to products are Four Star and Poorboys. Clearkote is next on my list, and I just started using Menzerna's IP which offers amazing results.

But I like the polishing in the sun idea.

SSR2/2.5 and EX w/carnauba and EX-P (along with Vanilla Moose) are must haves for me in the summer. I haven't found any other products that work that well in the hot sun.

no harm but i never meant to imply that i think poorboys is best. I like it a lot but we all know "best" is in the eye of the beholder. The sun factor is a big plus for a mobile detailer who doesn't want to be messing around with a canopy.
