Where to buy 3M PI III MG?

Same here, go look through Yellow Pages for auto paint supply stores.



I get mine from Finishmasters. It's a large chain of paint/bodyshop products.

If I understand correctly, IHG is an oil based glaze that is to be applied by hand only. It's sort of like "make up" for the paint in that it does wear off. The MG is similar to a polish in that it removes swirls and fine scratches. I do not think it contains any oils or fillers

So, are you saying that MG doesn't wear off unlike IHG? Judging by their label, they are both Glaze products and they only differ by their application process (IHG, by hand; MG by machine). Please correct me if I am wrong. Tnx!
 
Some have recently mentioned that they wonder why 3m calles MG a "glaze", got me on that one, sure seems like a polish. I have my 3m catalog here and there is a glaze that is like IHG but lasts longer called: Perfect It Hand Glaze (# 05990)



Some time in the future I may try this one once my HG is used up

Meaning to say, 3M MG isn't a "Glaze" after all? And IT IS a polish... is that what you mean? Thanks for the information. I almost bought the 3M PI-III MG. Btw, what's the difference bet. IHG and PI-HG? IHG is more expensive than PI-HG here in our place...
 
I have the MG and like it no matter what 3m wants to call it. I would have thought the PI HG would be more expensive. Catalog says it will last through more washes than HG. I've never personally seen the PI HG

I finally got the chance of reading the cover description of PI-III MG and it says "Non-filling". Oh well, maybe it really is a polish. ;) I shall now continue looking for 3M's HG.
 
OK, *I'LL* try to help clear up this "3M Glaze" confusion. I've used both PI-III MG and IHG (but NOT PI MG).



3M PI-III Machine Glaze (pn 05937) is MISNAMED. It is NOT a glaze, it is a POLISH. It has NO (according to the label) or *virtually* no fillers. It REMOVES marring by mechanical (abrasive) action. It can be used by hand or machine. It is a VERY good product that I use and recommend often. It is quite easy to use. Any tenacious residue (uncommon, but it does happen) can be removed with some Final Inspection or AIO.



3M Imperial Hand Glaze (pn 39007, pint) IS a real glaze. It temporarily fills minor marring but does NOT remove it. This "hiding" property is rather limited, it WILL NOT just "make scratches disappear". It is virtually non-abrasive, containing only oils and solvents. It does NOT last long unless "sealed in" by topping with another product. It can be used on freshly painted vehicles. It is usually used by hand, but some have used machines also (generally, anything you can apply by hand can also be applied by Random Orbital). Some people find it tricky to use, having problems with streaking, etc. The *Perfect It* Hand Glaze (pn 05990) is a longer lasting version of this product, as Bill D said.



General recommendation: remove the marring with the PI-III MG, leave the IHG for fresh repaints.
