Walmart waxes

I was wondering what would be the best combo of waxes and supplies to use on a car that you can get from Wal-Mart?

I don't think anyone can give you an exact answer because each WM stocks different products. Generally, they seem to carry the Meguiar's Gold Class series, and occasionally NXT, although I find NXT more at automotive stores. You can find some decent wash mitts there; I'm not too fond of the 'chenile' kind, but I recently bought a lamb's wool mitt and it works great. Buckets, spray bottles, brushes, tire/wheel cleaners shouldn't be hard to get. Now for towels, they sometimes offer the 5 pack of blue/white microfiber towels, but I don't like them too much, so I get a couple of high quality mid-size terry cloth towels from the home section.

NXT tech wax and wash are your best bets at Walmart. I have been disappointed with the NXT Spray Wax. You're better off just putting on another coat of regular wax.

I've also seen 3M Swirl Mark Remover at one of the Walmarts. This would be good with a polisher to prep the paint for waxing.

I've also heard good things about both the new Gold Class paste Wax and the Turtle Ultra Paste Wax but cannot verify this myself. Their large blue microfiber drying towels (the ones made in Korea not China) are quality bargains.

The NXT spray wax is good for wash and wax jobs. i would have to give my vote to the Ultra Gloss. Megs #26 puts it to shame, but you can't get #26 at Wal-Mart.

Good stuff I've found at Wal-Mart that I could actually use on a detail. I know they're not all waxes, but hopefully they can help you out in your product selection.

Meg's NXT
NXT wash
Meg's ScratchX
Meg's ColorX
Meg's PlastX
Stoner's Invisible Glass
Simple Green
Greased Lightning
Eagle One A2Z wheel cleaner
Westley's Bleche White
Prestone interior cleaner
Blue Coral Dri-Clean
microtex big blue MF drying towel
Ozium New Car Smell spray freshner
Oxi Clean
RainX
Meg's yellow foam applicators
Meg's Deep Crystal System
Woolite
Mother's clay bar & lube
Eagle One Wet Wipe & Shine

and a few other assorted odds & ends that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Don't get fooled into thinking that just because a product is found locally, be it Wal-Mart or Advance Auto, that it's junk or that it won't work. A product doesn't have to cost $15-20 to work. Once you gain an understanding of detailing and what certain products can do it makes a lot of difference. You can't take a neglected car and buy a cleaner wax at Wally World and expect results like the ones you see here at DC, but with the proper process and preperation work, you can use over-the-counter products to get very nice results.

I also have a silver truck, does one wax work better on light colors then another wax?
It's all in the eye of the behoder. I happen to like 4 Star UPP on red, silver, white, dark blue. Others have different preferences. :dunno

I forgot ColorX. It's really great for prep. Use ColorX then follow with either NXT, Gold Class or Turtle Ultra as the LSP.

Locally they were dumping the ColorX for $5. I don't know if all the Walmarts are discontinuing it.
