1995 Z28 with 50k miles on it. The current owner had it "polished" by aguy down the street about 4 months ago (just after winter). he said he picked the car up when it was cloudy and really couldn't tell that it was done right or wrong...until he pulled it out in spring and saw the absurd amount of swirls in the paint. Even in flat flurescent lighting, you could see haze and holograms galor. Just NO reflective quality at all. Not to mention, the 'detailer' was kind enuough to leave compound in every crevace/emblem/etc. The client had me pick the car up-which was actually to his benefit, because the amount of work was double what I originally figured it would require, and it being @ my house, allowed me to properly restore this black beast to glistening beauty.
Process:
Pressure Washed with foam cannon mixed with CG's Grime Reaper and citrus wash (to cut all wax and embedded compound). Used various brushes to remove build up.
Clayed with ONR, medium clay on body and heavy purple clay inside the wheel wells.
Taped all emblems, trim and wide body lines.
Flex DA with Purple foam wool and M105 followed by Tangerine and M205. Some areas required wet sanding, corrected with Surbuff and D300 first, followed by aforementioned combo.
For Tight locations, emblems, headlights and tail lights, i used the Griots 3" with Megs MFDA pads + D300. The super wet compound was easy to remove from the emblems!
Wheels were first washed with P21S polishing soap, then polished with an electric drill, power cone and Optimum metal polish.
After a through bathing, the car was topped with a coat of PoorBoys Black Hole Glaze and then Blackfire Midnight Sun paste wax for a super slick finish. All trim coated with Adams In + Out spray, the tires glossed with ProWax Liquid Blue Ice.

This area ended up getting sanded b/c of those deeper RIDs. There were a few areas like this, where I didn't know RIDs were lurking b/c of the heavy swirling.
