Sonus Green Clay Bar

Truthfully, I have to say no. If I'm really critical, it seems to mar ever so slightly. I'd really need to compare both the old and new under controlled conditions to say for sure. I think twice now before reaching for it. ONR is my usual lube for clay. Perhaps Sonus Glyde is called for...

Man this sucks I just bought some cause it was suppose to be so fine and gentle that it couldnt remove LSP

Pinnacle Ultra Poly is very gentle and is super easy to knead. I use it on my personal vehicles but use Mothers (partially because of the price) on customers cars that are getting polished. Though I have never really had any marring from the mothers from what I can remember.

Hmmm...I do always use Glyde, but I'd hate for the clay to be less gentle than the green stuff.

UPDATE on Sonus SFX clay-

I contacted the folks at Sonus and asked about the recent changes to SFX (previously "Sonus green") clay. The response follows:

[copy]When we tried to reorder the "green" Sonus clay, we were told that it was no longer available. After sampling several different clays from suppliers, the grey was the closest in performance to our old clay. The first batch we received was a bit harder to work with, but in working with the manufacturer thru our supplier, we have been able to get it softer and easier to use. I would say that we are really close to achieving this, I haven't received any complaints lately about our clay. I don't think you'll have any issues when it comes time for you to reorder.[/copy]

"Thanks!" to David and Gary at Sonus, I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I would agree with the fact that the new gray clay is just as mild as the green, I have used it many times and sell it to the local high end shops, no problems, no complaints.

I think Sonus Green is discontinued.... well the new stuff that I got from Sonus is supposedly the same clay but it's white in color.

where can i get this sonus gray?

We'd better all start calling the mild one "Sonus SFX" since there are now apparently two "Sonus gray" clays. And you sure wouldn't want to end up with the aggressive one by mistake!

so the mild one is SFX, whats the other one?

Ah, looks like they no longer sell their aggressive stuff. No big loss IMO, that stuff could do some serious marring and didn't always hold up very well...just not one of my faves (I got mine from weekendwarrior who simply despised the stuff).

solekeeper- Yes, AFAIK...might want to call and ask them just to make sure, but I bet they're only selling the SFX/gentle stuff.

another quick question, if I already have wax on a vehicle, and clay bar it with the sonus green, it won't strip it off, right guys?
