satellite pics of YOUR house .... incredible

Livin' the good life
the site is called earth.google

http://earth.google.com/

click the link to download the free software that will allow you to find your house, a building, a stadium, a port (or anything for that matter) in a major city all over the world.

It's not perfect .... but it is incredible quality & very entertaining.

There are very specific hardware/hard disk/Internet connection requirements to follow or you'll be wasting your time but if you've got a DSL/Cable modem setup & you PC has enough horsepower, be prepared to be amazed.

Hate to say it but we just spent over 2 hours looking for everything we could think of (the boss is out today) in the USA.

Golden Gate Bridge, Invesco Field, EPCOT, Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame, Lincoln Memorial .... see what you can find

NYV6Coupe,

Its a great find! (Google actually released this product back in january(ish) under a different name) Google's keyhole software which was the original name of that product was originally owned by www.keyhole.com which google bought and now offeres as part of their search!

I tend to be a bit of a google geek so I know about all of the products google is working on and is releasing! They have also recently release

http://sms.google.com
http://video.google.com
http://webaccelerator.google.com/
http://labs.google.com/ridefinder
http://toolbar.google.com (Great spell check feature for spell checking your posts)

Google is as I like to say always up to something! They have yet to put out a Product that is just Mediocre!

also if you guys get a few mins check out!

It doesn't get much cooler than Google!

Keyhole is SOOO much fun.

I used to take aerial pics of peoples houses, crop them, then send them via AIM. It freaked them out, to say the least.

The New version of Google Earth allows you to use your GPS enabled devices with it! From what I understand They are even in the process of making a version for the PALM/Pocket PC's

My friend tried that on his dad's office building in DC. If you're anywhere close to a govenment building (ex. the white house, as his dad's building was near it) you'll get a picture of the roof and a bunch of blurry images around it. Interesting fact.

While Microsoft attempts to compete with Google's products Microsoft has yet to make a product that is even in the same class! Its like comparing a Ford Escort to a Lincoln Navigator!
It's actually the other way around. terraserver has been up for several years.

(by the way... comparing an escort to a navigator is still comparing a Ford to a Ford. :lol)

Man, isnt kinda scary, no? Shoot, I think that's how terrorist plan their......you know what  Hey Keyhole is kool.

I used it to check some of the approx tee-to-green distances on the par 3's at some local golf courses & found some of them to be off by about 12 - 15 yards ... that's more than one club's worth of "opps!!" ....

Wow, that is great software! I saw the MS software demoed on the news one night but the link they gave wasn't correct. I think the Google software is much better, I did find my house!

Rich, I tried your link but it didn't work.

Thanks for posting,

Paul
