My brother in law purchased this Miata down in the Tampa area, so they stopped by for a few days on the way back home. I had hoped that a one step with M205 would be all this 36k mile roadster would need.....

Started by doing a valu-gard ABC paint decontamination wash as the horizontal surfaces felt very rough. I did not clay during the B step.

Fabric top was given a much needed cleaning with 303 fabric top cleaner and a soft brush.

While still wet the paint surface was soaped up again and then clayed with Zaino clay.

Wheels cleaned with MWB at 1:4 using various brushes.

Tires and wells cleaned with ARO 1:4.

Car was dried using one big blue WW drying towel.

So much for the one step polish.....

Horz surfaces which had some nice water spots where compounded with:

Surbuf pad/M105/XPPC6 via KBM

Vertical surfaces:

Orange LC classic flat pad/M105/XPPC6 via KBM.

Z6 wipedown to remove dust.

Final polishing:

Black LC classic flat pad/M205/XPPC6.

Headlight and taillight lenses where polished with:

4" classic orange LC pad/M105/XPPC6

4" classic black LC pad/M205/XPPC6

Fabric top remained covered during all compounding/polishing steps.

Painted areas washed to remove polishing dust and oils.

Car was allowed to sit in the garage overnight to ensure top was 100% dry.

Next day painted areas around fabric top where covered and 3x of Raggtopp protectant was applied to the top, 1 hour between coats.

Painted areas where then wiped down again with Z6.

Applied 3x of ZFX'd Z5pro.

Applied Z8.

Exhaust tips polished with M105.

Tires got Z-16.

Interior:

Vac

Leather was given a much need cleaning with Zaino Z9/leather brush and then conditoned with Z10.

IZ CP wipedown on all other hard surfaces.

Glass cleaned with Invisible Glass Reach & Clean Tool & IG. Have used this on a few cars/SUVs now. I like it alot, makes it easy to reach all those tough to get at interior windshields and rear glass.

Bryan thats a really nice car. I loved the color! nice one stepper by the way

Thanks Berry! It was very fun to drive.

One day I will learn my lesson when it comes to hoping for a one step. :hairpull

Great job on the MX5's best color. Since I have the same year and model I really enjoyed the way you turned this car's paint around. I imagine your brother in law was impressed. One question, is the Meguiar's Wheel Brightner pretty easy to use? I have stayed away from it due to the acid, but I think the wheels you cleaned look a little brighter than mine. :2thumbs:

Thanks Sludge for your kind words!

I forgot to mention that I also used ZAIO on the wheels. Try ZAIO or an AIO that you have around and see what you think.

Very nice work as always Bryan! How have you been buddy?

Thanks Todd! Been doing good and taking a bit of a break from detailing for a few weeks. I needed to get some stuff done around the house and recover from the last few months of working 60-80 hours a week. Next week I'll be over in Huntsville, AL for a few days working on 2-3 BMWs. Hope to find all is well with you too.

Awesome work Bryan. I have missed seeing your work. You must be busy. :xyxthumbs

Thanks Pat! After a crazy first 7 months of the year, it has finally slowed down a bit. I need the rest and have much to do around the house. Looks like I am off to Huntsville, AL to detail a few BMWs next week.
