i have a thing about not buying or owning green cars(superstition) but that color is amazing.
 
Guys, that represents a lot of work! I'm sure the owner was blown away...car looks better than new. Unusual color, I kinda like it...it's unique.

Few questions for you...



First off, you said you guys used a PC for both steps but you're using a rotary on the roof, why? Deeper swirls or 85rd/black because the PC was "busy"? Just curious that's all.



Second, based on my limited use of M105/orange (usually for my correcting step I go with M95/PFW, SIP/PFW, SIP/green, etc.) I wouldn't imagine the 85rd/black combo to remove marring left by M105/orange (mostly the pad). Just wondering what the exact process with both was to get such a perfect finish?



Lastly, any tips on correcting around the rear badge? I've done quite a few 911s and if they're pretty badly swirled I always have a tough time getting between all the cursive "Carrera" emblem. I have a few "gadgets" that work well and most of the time they come out perfect, but as I said, deeper stuff is corrected to a certain point only.

tom p- Thanks Tom! It was actually a pretty fun job to do compared to some of the other cars we've gotten this year... The green definitely grows on you.



z06meister- The film is Ventureshield, which is one of the better films on the market. It is nice and clear and has barely any orange peel. The thing I like the most about it is that it has a clearcoat, so it can be polished if it ever gets scratched. I actually skim over the film with the buffer after it's applied to remove any slight marring from when it's applied. You can't really even tell it's on the car unless you go within 1 foot and see some of the relief cuts around the edges.



lecchilo- Ivan, good question... We did all of the work using PC's, but had finished everything but the sunroof the night before the clear-bra was being installed. I had already waxed the roof and didn't want to touch it with the buffer, so I masked off the sunroof and decided to use the rotary because it is a little more precise than the PC (hope that makes sense).



Since Porsche's have very soft paint, we got lucky and were able to remove all of the defects using M105/orange pad. The new DA version of M105 worked great on this particular paint and left a surprisingly good finish. Because the paint was so soft and the great finish left from M105, we were able to get away with using 85rd for finishing. We made sure to really burnish-in the 85rd to ensure all marring from the M105 was fully removed. These results aren't typical, but we got lucky on this one.



Working around the rear emblem can be a real pain. I usually just adjust my buffer to the lowest speed and work the area until I am happy with the correction. Sometimes I need to polish between the letters by hand.
