Pinnacle Souveran vrs P21S Carnauba Wax

I'm on the fence ....

I've seen the results of P21S Carnauba Wax and was amazed at some of the results. However, I haven't seen any Pinnacle Souveran results.

Using the "Search" feature, type in Souveran, and select "Click & Brag" as the subforum.

It kind of depends on what color your car is. I think Souveran will give better results (deeper, richer glow) if your car is black, red, DARK blue, etc., and P21S will give better results on a lighter colored, or metallic paint. That's not to say P21S won't make a dark colored car look great, but I think Souveran is geared more towards darker colors.

I agree with Blacksunshine. Both are top of the line waxes that give exceptional results on specific colors but also provide great results on all colors.

Similarly, I have P21s and a black car, just how much difference would I see using souveran then ? It's pretty expensive stuff so it would need to be much much better? Would it be worth the cost ?

Axe, you probably know this, but S100 and PS21S are essentially the same product. S100 is only $15 USD, and Souveran is $70.00 USD. There are also some other products that offer similar levels of performance for S100's price - Natty's and Meguair's #16, in particular.

So, you should ask yourself whether your like Soveran so much that it is essentially worth spending about four time othe price of these other products.

It really boils down to personal preference and paint. Is your car a straight black or metallic? All of the black BMW 3's I've done have been metallic and I prefer the look of a sealant on them (eg. EX-P.) However, on my vehicle I haven't found anything that touches Souveran. Here's a couple pics.

I posted a question a while ago but got no replies, do people use a different approach to Metallic Black to Flat Black?

I have P21s, Nattys, #16, CMW, which I would be using to top Ex, Ex-p or Nxt over VM.

One car I am tempted to buy next month is Metallic Black, should I think about grabbing the some Soveran or will I be ok with the Carnuba's I already have.

Best example I can find of the colur.

Looks really nice Denali-D, I do have mettalic paint you are correct, but whoa $70.00, 40UKP plus shipping that is expensive stuff! I am with you uncle, I think its way too pricey for me. Might go with the Ex-P (once it arrives) though Denali-D :)

Thanks for the complement, even with the sub-par pictures and all. But I agree, for that amount of money it really isn't worth it, especially on a metallic. I think you'll like the look of the EX-P though, while it's not the slickest or most durable sealant, it gives a really crisp, clean look perfect for metallics.

Using Souveran is very easy and it does provide a unique appearance, but on my well prepared black paint, it looks a tad blah. Deep and dark, but...not much life (following FP). On this paint, EX/#16/P21 all look better, to me. They still enhance the depth, yet provide more gloss/pop. Lets face it, well prepared black paint is already deep and dark. I didn't use a glaze after the FP, I went straight to Souveran. Should I have? I figured, why alter the Souveran's effect on a pristine finish. Which glaze compliments Souveran pretty well? TIA

I've used p21s on my black car (#2) and I have to say that it provided excellent results. That wax is also very long lasting. Not sure how it would rate with pinnacle, but p21s does a lot for your money IMO.

P21s is clearly a very nice wax but I don't find to be particularly long lasting, not in the realm of a sealant. It's the sort of product where you have to want to routinely reapply regularly for keeping up the best appearance.

Souveran is one of the most luxurious waxes to use on properly prepped black paint. Here is a pic of Souveran on black in a garage-

Here is another pic of Souveran x 2 over EX-

Souveran gives a very deep and wet look.

Cheers,

I keep going back to Souveran, especially now that my black car is prepped within an inch of its life. It is noticably deeper and more liquid looking than P21S/S100, although on lighter colors and metallics I'd go with S100, #16, Natty's or Pink Wax since Souveran's advantage on darker colors also means it slightly mutes metallics.

This is Souveran over well prepped black paint.

I think I'm gonna give Souveran another try. Fellas, in those photos, has Souveran been used as a topper or was it applied right after polishing? TIA

On the Rolls, it was applied over a month old coat of Souveran and on my 626, it was also a second coat, applied a week after meticulous prep and finished off with the first coat of Souveran.

Proper prep is the key though. Without it, you won't get the real benefits of Souveran.

Maybe I'll try a second coat a few days after the first; prior, I had a single coat, only. The prep was there. The finish looked beautiful following the FP (under my test light). Don't get me wrong, the Souveran looked good, just a little flat. Before I remove the #16 that's on it now, which looks real nice, I'll try topping it with Souveran. I know some have said you'll keep more wax on the paint by removing carnauba with cotton instead of MF. Is there any merit to this? I could use the DFT I normally reserve for final QD'ing to remove the Souveran, then, after it's cured, go over it with MF to remove any remaining residue (car's in a garage). Make sense?
