M105/205 VS Opt. Compound/Polish ???

So I haven't buffed a car in over two years... I need to buy some polish now, but not sure what I want. I used to use Optimum Compound and Polish and loved it, but I've heard that Meguiars actually got 105 and 205 right and that they are better than optimum. I did a search, but didn't come up with that I was looking for. Oh and I was desperate and bought Megs 83 (only OTC stuff I could find by me) yesterday to buff my Charger before a car show and I absoluted hated everything about that... so if M105/205 are anything like that then I don't want them...

Thanks guys!

#105/#205 are terrific polishes, the new sprayable versions of Optimum Hyper Polish and Hyper Compound are excellent too but not quite sure when they will be released for sale. First impressions are good but I need to use them a bit more before I can determine if they are better than #105/205.

What about just the regular Optimum compound II and polish II, how do those compare to M105/205? How is the M105/205 working time? And the finishing of 205?

I have yet to try the new Megs 105 and 205 but found that Optimum Compound and Polish II works just fine for me. I found what works best for me and stuck do it which is Optimum products.

In my experience M105 is terrific as it has plenty o cut and yet finishes very well. I also like the M205 but I've been using Optimum Polish II Of late and I get great results as well. Very long work time, minimal dusting and the finish is very good. The Optimum Finish is also great for that ultimate finish. Can't wait totry out the new stuff.

:werd: x1000!

Well ordered the Megs stuff... really hope it doesn't disappoint... only got it because it was cheaper and also the positive reviews. haha Hopefully I get it in time for the next car show...

I found that 105 can have a short working time, depending on your method (KBM is a game changer in this area). It also dusts a lot, extreme with a wool pad, and can sometimes be tricky to remove. Typically that would move me away from a product, but 105 delivers such good results I gotta have it. For a HEAVY compound, the finish is exceptional.

205 has a long working time, is very smooth, leaves a very nice finish, and wipes away almost effortlessly.

I've heard that the older Optimum compounds and polishes weren't ideal for use with PC. Has this changed any?

I wonder how a 50% UC/50% 105 combo would work. I'd think that dusting would be reduced and work time increased with maybe a slight bit reduction in cut.

Exactly what I do at times. 3 little drops of 105, and 1 drop of Optimum Polish II

Havent had any issues with my PC and opt compounds besides extremely long working times.
