Langka Job

This scratch was a pain.. it was HUGE (long not wide) and DEEP.

Notice there was also some damage under the HUGE scratch

here's some pics...

Befores OUCH!!!!

All in all I was pleased... As I tell people this will not remove the scratch BUT will minimize it

Looks a ton better.

My touch up never turns out as good as I am hoping for. Next time maybe I'll give the Langka kit a try.

Langka is a good little system...nice work!

hey Bob, Thanks for the comment bro...... It is a neat system once you have a technique established.

I'd recomend you at least try it... make sure to do your personal vehicle before you offer it to a cust. there is a learning curve

Looks darn nice! Whats the learning curve on this?

WHB: There is a learning curve to it. Ambient temperature, and different touch up paints all have a part in the variability with the process.

OEM touch up paint works the best. The auto parts paint doesn't seem to "grab" as well and a lot of the paint comes out when surfacing.

I've had the Langka system sitting here for awhile, I need to get my butt in gear. Nice work and thanks for the kick start!!

I had a couple of questions on the langka use. It says you first fill the chip with pain, let it dry at least a few hours, and then wrap a cloth around the card, put some of the compound and rub across the "blob" to level it.

1)How thick of a rag should i use to cover the card? cotton tshirt, regular microfiber, terry cotton towel? Does it make a difference?

2)Also how do you rub accross it, with the flat side of the card or the edge (as in a squeegie)?

3) Will langka work on older paint blobs (eg. more than the 24 hour time it says to wait)? i have a chip that has a blob on it cos i never got around to use the langka on it yet but it's been there for about a month.

Thanks!!

My thought process on this was to use a material (I hate the word rag.. ha ha) that has very little/no nap. Reason being is I did not want the nap to get into the scratch and remove some of the touchup.. I used an old cotton pillow case that I cut up.

2)Also how do you rub accross it, with the flat side of the card or the edge (as in a squeegie)?

I don't have much luck using the "squeegie" method. I just wrap a card (any card can be used, thin flexible ones are the best like a blockbuster membership card).

I then use moderate rubbing pressure to remove the "blob" once I can see that the paint is starting to level out I ease up on the pressure being applied.

Very similar to polishing using a product that can correct yet finish lsp ready, start with pressure and then once the correction is complete ease up on the pressure to "jewel"

Worth a try, longest i've waited was 2 days only because the nature of the touch-up paint needed that long to cure... when I tried 24 hours the paint still was coming out of the scratch.

Thanks!!

Any other questions?

If not good luck!

The pillowcase is a good idea. I normally use a cut up oxford cloth dress shirt-the less nap the better.

Langa has worked on 7 year old touch up paint for me. YMMV.

The Langka Experience goes something like this:

First swipe- "Hmmm...no difference."

Second Swipe-"Okay, little more pressure and it's starting to work."

Third Swipe-"Great...I'm almost there, just one more light swipe."

Final Swipe-"Holy crap! Where did all the paint go? Now I've got to start all over. Ugh."

Thanks for the tips guys!....I'll be giving it a shot this weekend.

I also had bought a 2000 grit Meguiar's sanding block and some 3M glaze but hope the langka works well enough that i don't need to use that!
