IP with PC frustration...

Yeah, I agree. I had six layers of KSG on the minivan and after more than a year without LSP/QD/anything except washing it was still marring free. Nothing marred the paint so it didn't get marring. If nothing abrasive gets dragged across/pressed into the paint it won't get marred.

For that matter, I virtually *never* polish my "good" cars. Nothing ever happens to their paint that woud make them *need* polishing. And yeah, I do drive them, year-round in the case of the S8.

Yeah, that's cause you're crazy :) . I usually find myself using a mild polish (SSR1, soon to become PO85RD:cool: ) around once a month on my car. I'm not that picky about my washing and I S+W with a dirtier car than I probably should, so I end up polishing a little more often than most guys. I havent seen a noticeable reduction in clearcoat depth yet, however. Hasnt even gotten rid after that damn orange peel yet  after 2 years of regular polishing.

Heh heh, yeah, guilty as charged, at least with regard to wash techniques :D

Only times I've ever polished out OP were on single stage, and it took me many years of polishing to do it.

MartyGrant has a good point, which I never thought of.

SFX3 is supposed to be VERY aggressive...it would probably result in some marring being removed and re-instilled, like any aggressive pad...especially visible on black.

I know you've given it the full Zaino treatment, but when you're ready, step down to a milder pad, like orange or white, and try with IP again.

teamvegas, nice 'before' and 'after' pics...very effective photography. :up

Thanks Alfisti!! It takes a lot of work to get black perfect to the Autopian eye. Im glad I could capture the before and afters. Here is what I am working with. This is my own vehicle I bought about 2 months ago from an uncle that abused it as a landscape truck. Very hard to find time to do deep polishing on a large vehicle when I do it all day all week. Oh well. Little by little is better than none at all!

Glad it's not just me that thinks the GM paint is hard. I had a really tough time getting the paint on my GMC to respond to the PC.
