Interior or Exterior first?

Which do you do first and why?

For my own car, I do the interior first. This is where I spend the majority of my time when i'm doing anything that required my vehicle, so it is the area I see the most. This way if I run out of time, I still have some sort of sense of accomplishment when using my vehicle. I tend to do the same whenever I'm doing a friend's vehicle.

What do you do?

On my car, interior last - Lately I have been washing my car about an hour before the sun sets, so then I just pull my car in the garage and finish up on the interior.

On customers vehicles, I do whatever area is worst - first. Just to make sure I have enough time and I'm not rushing myself on the most important areas.

I like to do the interiors first always. The way I figure it, between me vacuming, pulling carpets out to vacumn, blowing out the interior sometimes with the air compressor.....dust and grit tends to find it's way outside if not at lease on the door sills.

If shampooing the interior, it's better to do it first as it will allow more time for it to dry while you work on the outside.

I always do interior first.

I typically do interiors first as well.

I like to change it up from time to time however just as my mood fits. I like doing exteriors much more so if I'm having a rough day I go right to the buffing to cheer myself up. Also, if I know a car is going to take a lot of compounding I might do the exterior first so I can transition from cleaning the door jams then move inside.

I must do the interiors first because I sweat enough for three people. I try to get it knocked out before I'm dripping wet and screw up what I just cleaned.

I always do the interior first.

That way it doesn't matter if I get any product overspray, fingerprints, dust and/or dirt on the exterior.

i like to start on the exterior first (just wash, prep, and dry), then the whole interior, then go back to the exterior (paint correction, wax, dressings). however i like to do windows as the third to last step while i wait for the wax to haze, then wax removal, and finally a quick spot vac on the interior. i love detailing inside a shop :woot2:

my process would be entirely different if i was a outdoor/mobile detailer
