EX-P, UPP, or Wolfgang?

I may have responded to this thread before, as I seldom miss a chance to talk about Poorboys stuff :D ....but just in case I missed it....... ;)

I've used EX for almost a year now and I love the stuff, and every Poorboy product I've tried, so trying EX-P was a given for me.

I have a white truck and while I was removing the old products from it (EX topped with Nattys wax) I noticed a very distinct darkening of the white paint on the portion of the truck where I had not yet removed the old products. I guess the carnuba had added a somewhat darker finish...great for dark colored paint probably but not so good over white...imo.

When I put on the EX-P....no carnuba added, and then topped it with another coat I got the most incredible shine I've every had and that included last spring when I had 5 coats of Zaino on it. I love the stuff and it's sure a whole lot easier to apply that Zaino.

If you try EX-P you'll not need to try anything else...imo.

UPP!!! It is well priced, it's durability is outstanding(it really is, I tested this most of late winter and through part of the summer last year), has UV protection, creates an awesome shine on your vehicle, it is slick as anything else out there. Definitely layerable. Never had any problems with it.

Jim...I agree, EX-P is one of the top shines! I am going to try WG to see if it is any deeper on my red car, but I have a feeling I will be alternating between WG and EX-P!

Waxman - ditto on the UPP I have not used a product that produces a slicker finish and the shine is soooo clear (especially combined with AIO)

I've found that EX-P is clearer than UPP, but UPP is slicker than EX-P (both using AIO as a base layer).

In response to WG in the sun. I applied it in direct sunlight to my spoiler and it buffed off just fine. I said "what the hell" and applied it to the rest of the car. Keep in mind, my car's black and it was 80 out. There were some areas where I applied too thick and needed to go back but I was surprised that it removed so easily. This stuff keeps getting better and better!

In my experience, 15 - 20 minutes with UPP leaves you with a smeared looking mess. But then, maybe these are instructions with a new batch? Mine said 30 minutes minimum, and Dwayne mentioned 45 minutes. I have found 30 minutes to be sufficient in my climate, but maybe 15 is good enough if you are in an arid climate?:nixweiss

I remember reading somewhere that their latest version was reformulated to have a shorter "cure" time to make it more attractive to the "novice" or everyday detailer.

I, too, am looking for a new product to test this spring.

I ordered WG two days ago. Based on ScottWax's pics and everyone's comments, it looks to be the right choice. I've been a loyal Zainoholic for about three years now(except for that little venture with s100;) ), and it would be hard to convert me, but I'm gonna give WG a shot.

The only area that worries me is durability. It's just too new to know right now:rolleyes: .

We'll see!:wavey

Scott, the bottle of UPP I have sez you only have to wait 15-20 min.

:nixweiss The version I have says 45-60. I prefer to not wait at all and with WG and EX-P, I don't have to.

UPP was reformulated about a year ago?? (I think) The latest version is about 15 minutes and if you do the whole car from front to back, by the time your don applying you can remove where you started :) - I keep seeing varying reports on Wolfgangs (I just got some but it has been raining every day since I got mine ;() that it's on and off and some day wait 20,30 even 60 minutes -- but not sure if it is peeps following some weird sealant rule or what - ;)

So basically, reading posts from some of you,UPP HAS been reformulated then to reduce cure time?or drying time?if the wait on cure time has been shortened then i just might add this to my "private" collection in my detail arsenal:p ;) and whats the ideal weather conditions to be used with this product given the right humidity or how hot/cold the day feels?or any other product applied for that matter?

When I use the Wolf, I usually do about 1/3 of the vehicle, then go back and remove. then do the next 1/3, etc. Ive only done a few cars, but I did one in the sun (but only about 50*) and another in about 30* temps. Applied and removed about the same in both cases. If this stuff approachs the durability of Zaino, then it is truely a winner!

groebuck-when deciding on how long to wait after applying to remove a sealant, I go by the manufacturer's directions. I figure they know best. I do some experimenting to see if I can use the wipe on/wipe off method though so I only have to go around the car once.
