Since this thread had peaked my interest in one of these things, I decided to get one. I happened to be in Advance Auto Parts last night, and came across one. It was $9.98. Just wanted to pass it on to anyone who may be interested in trying one out.

let us know how it works.

Anyone know the difference between the old wood handled ones and the new ones?

I think a truck shop by my house has the wood handle model, but the auto parts stores carry the new plastic handle.

In cost, about $10.
In performance, :dunno.
In construction/materials, The yarn in my old wood handled ones is longer and larger. It is quite evident if you can compare them side by side. Maybe 50% larger yarn threads.
The "Super Duster" has yarn all the way around it as well as being a little larger. It has its advantages, but the regular wood handled ones will fit into some places that the Super Duster won't.
I have only used the wood handled ones so I can't speak from experience about the Wal*Mart, Target, Advance Auto Parts ones, but if they didn't do a decent job, I'm sure we would have read something about it.
Just personal choice, but given how long they last, I would buy the wooden handle one. (I did, 3 times.) :D

Thanks guys.

I stopped by the auto store today and decided to get the plastic handle CCD for $10. I've got it wrapped in newspaper right now, so hopefully I get to use it on Sunday.
