After weeks of researching camcorders, I went to Circuit City today to try out a few of them. At first I wanted something with a really good zoom, 3ccd, miniDV and compact. I found out I would have to sacrafice one for the other...3ccd with not a great zoom or sacrafice the 3ccd for a good zoom. Today I went to Circuit City to see which one I would give up and after trying a few with 20X optical zoom or more, it was easy making my decision. I would get the 3CCD over the 20+X optical zoom. When I would zoom in with the 26X optical zoom, the picture would start shaking a lot, distorting the pic. I thought it was my hand at first but it wasn't. A lot of optical zoom wasn't good. I then tried the 3CCD with less zoom (10X optical) and that was perfect. It didn't zoom in so much but the pic wasn't distorted at all. I"m going to go pick up the PAN- PVGS150 tomorrow at CircuitCity for $579 after $50 rebate and it comes with a free bag and tripod. My old roomate had this camera for his media/film classes and he loved it until it got stolen so he jumped up to the PAN PVGS250. I think its going to do exactly what I need it for...family cruise in March, car/truck shows and hopefully will still be decent a few years down the road when its time for a wife and kids! Its a gift from my g-ma for Xmas so I won't get to use it until then but oh well!
