BMW 530d SE (that hadn't been washed in a year!)

This is my Mum's partner's car. He has absolutely no interest in cars whatsoever and simply sees them as a means of getting from A to B. Well, my Mum had had enough of it looking like a dustbin, so she called me in to sort it out!

Even though it hadn't been washed in well over a year, it didn't look too dirty, although I think this is a characteristic that really dirty cars take on. And also, as it never gets touched, the paint underneath was in relatively good shape, with only a few medium (dealer inflicted no doubt) swirls to contend with.

There are quite a few photos in this post, so bear with me!

Before (I haven't got a whole car shot, but the wheel and boot lid should give you a good idea what the whole car was like!):

Processes were:

INTERIOR

Vacuum

Meg's APC 10:1 on everything

TW Leather Cleaner/Conditioner

PB Natural Look Dressing

AG Fast Glass

AG Autofresh

ENGINE:

Meg's APC 4:1 on everything, agitated with a soft brush

Jet wash on low pressure to rinse

AG Vinyl and Rubber Care on everything

EXTERIOR:

Wash with Pro Finish x3

Wheels with Pro Finish wheel acid and AG High Tech Wheel Brush x4

Meg's APC 4:1 and Jet wash in the door shuts

Clay with Meg's GC as lube

SSR2.5 with Meg's burgundy

PwC Blue with Sonus DAS green

EX by hand

AG Fast Glass

Hypertursimo's Wheel Wax

Meg's Endurance High Gloss tyre dressing

AG ITR with steel wool and NXT All Metal Polysh on exhaust tips

AG Vinyl and Rubber care in arches (what I could reach anyway)

And I think that's about it. All in all it took me 10 hours which I don't think was too bad all things considered.

Afters in the next post as I doubt the system will allow me to post them all in this thread.

The dust on the mats is from my shoes after I'd moved it. Needless to say I vacuumed again before he came and collected it.

First thought -- how can anyone keep their car like that?? Wow.

Second thought -- you have done an amazing job!! Kudos to you.

What was his response? What was your Mum's response?

Lovely job Ben!

My father-in-law has a Rover 25 (dark blue) with paintwork in awful condition due to his lack of car care knowledge and I just refuse to sort it out because I know after the very next wash, it'll be swirl city again!

He was impressed to say the least, but because he doesn't get any kind of kick from cars he wasn't as overjoyed as you might think. My Mum was serioulsy impressed and has since booked her car in - and that's not in any better state!

Great work Ben!

How bad was the surface to clay? I find those non-washed vehicles get really locked with contaminants.
