best and worst carpets?

I know everyone has a type of carpet they just hate to try and vacuum and I finally made my decesion of what mine is. The carpet that comes in a Toyota Corolla. It's really tought to get the little pieces of trash out of it. My favorites are gray BMW or Benz carpets. Your thoughts?

What is your vacuuming technique? Mine goes like this...Vacuum once, then go over the carpet with either a stiff hand brush or a brush attachment on my porter cable. That will lift the embedded dirt out. Then I vacuum again.

It has nothing to do with quality.

Its just the *type* of carpet it is.

What Danase does is the same thing i do.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a Lexus ES300 and I love the carpet in it. It is so easy to vacuum and doesn't cling to dirt. When I vacuum my sister's Pacifica, it seems to take forever. Stuff just gets buried in the fibers.

The worst is the ones that have the giant Velcro like fibers, not the hook side of velcro but the wool side. They really hold little pieces of leaves and dirt.

That is exaclty what the Corolla carpets are like. Atleast the newest version 2005+. You really can't take a stiff brush to them because they will pull out and make mess... I agree that this type of carpet is a major PITA. So I usually just do a vacuum and leave it be. Anything else will be a waste of time and it may be detrimental to the appearance of the carpeting (if you want to call it that).

On a lighter note, I love black carpets. Especially in Mustangs. They are easy to clean and the results can be shown better in black than any other color.

I know what you are talking about!

I recall having a hard time with a Mazda 3 and its black carpet. The carpet seemed "cheap" and it wouldn't let go of the debris.

Ditto on the 3 and and the newer Sienna's to the list. It's a Cyclo only party with those things to clean carpet.

+3 on the Mazda3. I own an '05 Mazda3 and the carpets are a complete PITA to vac. They really cheaped out on the carpet. However, the rest of the car is great! The carpet is one of my only few complaints.

It DOES have to do with quality. Those types of carpets won't last nowhere near as long as those found in higher end cars.
