Great Work Grouse! How do you like the Leathermaster products? PC work is good for finishing, but the rotary is an entirely different game that you will totally love for hard paint correction.

Grouse- That's a great job :xyxthumbs IMO you did it pretty *quickly* considering all the work that was required.

Interesting that the clear was as hard as Audis usually are; I've heard of some, that always seem to be the Nogaro Bue, that are exceptionally *soft* :nixweiss

[quote name='Grouse']at midinite i ordered a rotary and pads. To be honest i know i could have removed the rest of the marring with a rotary and cut my time down considerably...
Heh heh, yeah, it was the Audi clear that finally prompted *me* to get a rotary as well. You'll be glad you did.

Oh, and smart move, taping all the aluminum trim. For some reason the clear anodizing is very fragile.

It really is fragile trim. I have noticed that on my personal audi. Hence it gets taped off.

@ silvabimma,

Nearly 10 years ago i started taking IICRC certified classes. Carpet, upholstery, fabrics, hard surface, leather, water damage, fire damage etc. In the case of leather we started out useing Generic AIO products put on by the larger chemical companies.

We happened on a leather specific class put on by leather master. I generally avoided individual chemical company classes as they are designed to sell product not to teach about the issue. We gave it a go because the AIO products were not giving the reuslts i wanted.

Leather masters class did more to teach me about the kinds of leathers, cleaners, synthetic fabrics (ultra suede) (vinyl), repairs, re-dyeing. It was an amazing class. The first 2 cleanings (a house of leather furniture and an RV) i was able to achieve a much better result and feel to the leather. Over the next 5 years i used leather masters exclusively. I know the limitations of leather masters, and IMHO that is half the battle.

Since i have left the carpet industry i have continued to use Leather masters on a personal level. Now that i have started my own company I have purchased leathers masters to use in my clients cars/trucks.

Leather masters suite of products takes time though. This works for my detailing regiemn, it may not work for yours. Leather masters needs to fully dry before you move on to either the repeat step or the next step. for me a 5 seat car takes about 1.5 hours over the period of the detail. While the seats are drying i am working on other things.

Hope that helps

Awesome job considering how hard the Audi's clearcoat is...PC is definately limited to what it can do but you really took it to the extreme!! The car looks amazing and s4's are badass!!! A couple hundred dollars and you've got yourself a very quick car

I can remove swirls and light scratches from my A4 fairly easily ith a PC and OHC+LC Orange, but no matter what I do, I have severe hazing. It literally takes 4-5 passes with FPII to remove them to 80%. I am literally about to give up!!:wall

Nice turn around, you must have been aching after using the PC on that thing. :)

Stiff but not bad. it is just work like any other work.

On audi's i only get moderate to severe hazing when i don't work the product down fully, or when i use too much product. I was actually quite impressed with how little hazing PG left.

Try using only 4 1/2 pea sized dots on your pad.

Spread it out on a 18"x18" or 2'x2' area.

work it around on 3 for maybe 2 passes

then work the product fully on 6.

Spritze the pad every other time once with distilled water.

Change or clean the pad every 6-12 times.

Awesome, I know your a Interior madman! Definitely Knowing the Materials, Right Chemicals, and right technique are all essential factors.

Out of curiosity, which rotary did you purchase and are you continuing to use the Edge2k system with the rotary?
