water spots (i think)

So i took my car in a few days ago, did the dawn, SMR, PPCL and zaino, looks good, but... i've knoticed waterish looking spots just below my windows. The last time i detailed the civic i didn't see them.. pretty sure they weren't there. At that point i did a few coats of souveren, that was only a little while ago. When i washed it this time i was also doing a friends civic, so the water set on mine for a bit before we were able to dry it (while we washed his). I saw the spots then and just washed over them with the mit and dawn again, then hosed off.

When i pulled it in and got my lights i saw they were still there. I used some SMR with the PC and went over the spots a lot... thought they were gone. But now with the zaino i can see them very well. I thought water spots took a week to develop into a problem... i read in the eBook that white vinigar does the trick... but wouldn't the SMR of taken care of them all? That's pretty tough stuff.. and it didn't put a dent in them. or do you have to vinigar before you SMR just to be sure and remove it all or something. Has anyone else had 'waterspots' that didn't use vinigar that SMR got rid of? looking close at them i think they might be something wierd with the cleacoat. I'll get some pics when i can. Untill then i guess i'm going to try the vinigar (over my 5 coats of Z....)

Looks like i'll probably end up striping the Z with dawn, using vinigar on the spots, then maybe SMR if needed to clean residue from the spots, and PPCL (is pinicle as good as P21s?)

instead of stripping everything

just work on those areas with spots. Vinegar will remove the mineral deposits without abrasive action.

got some vinigar.. put it on... it beaded... that's cool but not what i want. I rubed some ppcl to try and get rid of the zaino, didn't seem to work too well... i'll just have to dawn. Spot cleaning them is a good idea to keep the zaino... but i saw them all up and down that side... not sure if they are on the other side, that side wasn't in the sun... i'll check later, probably will end up doing the whole thing. ANyway... i let the vinegar sit for a while and it didn't seem to do much.. might of been because it was in the sun.... here are some pics of what the problem is

anyone have any ideas? I'm going to a car club meeting on sunday... i'd like to be able to fix it by then to impress everyone. Thanks!

the water spots don't wash or QD off? that's some mean rain

let me get this straight, when you spot SMR'd and or used vinegar they didn't come off either?

ya, i washed with vinigar ppcl vinigar and they didn't come off.. before i zainoed when they were there i used SMR with a white pad and that didn't seem to help. I'm going to try some FI-II and the yellow pad and see if that doesn't do the trick. I hope it's just water spots.

I had the same problem today on a Toyota Avalon that I did. Vinegar didn't work. AIO didn't work. PPCL didn't really seem to work until I tried again and really put my back into it. Finally they came off. PPCL was the only thing I had that would work. I tried Meguiar's paint cleaner and ScratchX and everything else I could throw at it. Hit it hard with the PPCL and see if it works.

i hope it's not the clearcoat going... it's a newer car.. and i would think clearcoat going wouldn't look like waterspots at all... then again... my car has this long history (much of it before i got it) and that body pannel has some history.. it's definatly not stock.. how much of the car's been repainted is an issue.. i'd really like to have a professional look at it so i know for sure...
