Washing car at pressure washer bay

Ok, well its winter, I know i didnt get the QEW or ordered it yet. What can I do at the pressure wash bay. I have been there before, but when I wipe it dry, it seems like all the dirt doesnt come off since its just high pressure water going on the car. Who else goes there?

I've definitely had that experience. The pressure wash doesn't get off all the dirt. Some guys bring a bucket and wash mit in there to wash the car with to solve that problem. Personally, I just use the pressure wash to get the salt off. I don't bother drying afterward. During the winter my car looks like garbage because of all the snow and salt. I just want to get the salt off to avoid damage to the paint. IMHO keeping your car clean if you drive it during the winter is like :wall

I have done the same thing at the pressure wash bay. I can even tell where there is still dirt on the car because the water won't bead up. What about pressure washing and them coming back with PB Spray and Gloss with at MF? I guess it could still marr the paint, what does everyone else think?

Carefully pressure wash off the worst from the undercarriage/wheel arches and then complete the job at home.

Speaking of using undercarriage wash using the self-service bay. My car's manual says:

Thoroughly flush the underbody and

wheel housings with lukewarm or cold

water at the end of each winter. Try also

to do this every month.

Pay special attention to these areas

because they easily hide mud and dirt. It

will do more harm than good to wet

down the road grime without removing

it.

Emphasis in the original.

So how do I know that I washed down/removed the undercarriage's road grime at the self-servie bay, and not just wetted it?

Some car washes will let you "bucket wash". But most have signs forbidding it.

Otherwise you're stuck with leaving a film of dirt on the car.

Order that QEW. You'll be very happy with it.

We had a sloppy day here yesterday. I got home and QEW'd both cars in the garage and got them done before dinner time! (30 minutes total for two cars.) Then spent another 10 minutes per car doing a QD wipedown.

And a great cardio workout also! :D

Sunshine today!
