UPP or Blackfire

What do you guys think of these two products. UPP and Blackfire on white.

1- Is there much of a difference Between these two sealants ?

2- Is UPP that much slicker than Blackfire??

3- What will shine and bead water more???

4- And in the END. What one do you choose, AND WHY

Thanksâ€Â¦BMG

Here's the Max with UPP + #16:

It's slick as hell, as the slickness has lasted through two washes now. It's been too cold to wash the car with the hose, and it hasn't rained, so I haven't seen any beading action.

I haven't tried Blackfire so I can't comment on that.

Hmmmmm..........Thats a toss up...If it wasnt white, Id go with BF. UPP is nice on white, you lose the real benefit of BF's depth and clarity on white.

Hey DFool, hello from "Over the hill".....

I have only used UPP, once, on my 2-month-old car. I haven't heard of Blackfire until yesterday, in another thread. The UPP on my dark metallic red car has continually beaded water in tiny drops for the past month since I applied it. It is super slick, to me.

I've read in this thread from people who've used both UPP and Blackfire, and prefer Blackfire. Let me say that UPP is pretty darned good. I wouldn't knock it.

If you (generically speaking) detail your car regularly, what does it matter how long a product lasts? You're going to apply new product anyway.

On the other hand, professionals have customers who want maximum performance (IOW, they don't want to spend $$ to detail their cars often), so a product that provides shine, depth, and lasting beading would be desired. Blackfire may be the product of choice in this instance.

Heh heh, and *I* find UPP slicker than Blackfire! So now it's a toss-up I guess.

I also find UPP more user-friendly than BF and that any appearance-quality differences go away after a wash or two. But note that this is just IMO.

I did find that BF darkened the finish more than UPP. Compared to a vehicle with identical paint and a different LSP, the darkening was pretty dramatic. Haven't compared BF and UPP side-by-side this way, but with UPP the two cars look much more like they have the same paint (which they do). With BF, anybody would've sworn they were two completely different paint codes. If this darkening is something you'd like, I'd probably go with the BF. It's not an appearance-quality factor to me on the cars I use these products on.

I switched from BF to UPP on the S8 and I'm very happy with the UPP. With both on the shelf (and a *LOT* of other LSPs too), my "good" car gets UPP. No topper either, don't want to compromise the slickness, which helps with the marring-free washes.

UPP over 1Z's (pro) MP gives my metallics a "pop" that I haven't seen with any other product combos.

Thanks.

If anyone noticed that there are no side shots, it's because the car has AT LEAST 2 dozen door dings (mostly minor) so it just looks disgusting to me. Who wants to see a picture of a bunch of door dings? The reflections are really messed up in the sides.

detailingfool - I would choose VM & UPP x 2 on white, because I really like the look.

I have both of these sealers. I like UPP on both dark and light colors, but typically only use blackfire on darker colors. If I had to pick one, it would be UPP because I like it on all colors, it's very slick, good durability, and it's at a very competitive price point. The Four Star product line is very nice IMO.

I have NOT tried UPP or Blackfire but I have read TONS of threads, to where i can say that both are good but it seems that a few more people are using UPP and lovin it. So I would suggest PURELY on what I have read about other expierences on here.... UPP. (at least that is the one that *I* would buy from reading threads on here.) This is my opinion purely from others reviews.

I've cleansed the thread of all the off-topic crap (the thread-jack, and everything that followed from it).

Keep it on-topic, please. If it's not related to the original subject, I'll edit or delete it.

Thanks,

I haven't used BF yet but I have used UPP several times. It is a very slick, glossy and wet looking product. Depth isn't as good as a carnauba but it is deeper looking (to me) than Klasse SG. UPP is also a breeze to use. Not having used BF, I don't really want to comment on it other than to say several users have said it requires patience since it takes time to cure enough to remove without smearing but they also add the appearance is worth it.

BF is hard to use sometimes and easy to use other times. I just got sick of figuring out what kind of day it was going to be.

When BF did work as it was suppose to, it was and still is my favorite looking product. And slick. And durable.

agreed, except I don't get tired of trying to figure it out. Just takes longer to cure sometimes. :)
