SSR vs. 3M FI2

Hey GUys,

Seeing as how I am now addicted to detailing...both Visa and Mastercard are thanking you all. :woot: I am looking to continue expanding my detailing supplies (I have started to order atleast 2 times a week of quite a few products each time) and was looking into some different polishes. I already have used 3M Finesse It 2 with great results. Compared to 3M FI2 is PB SSR1 going to be a slightly less abrasive polish..or about the same? I dont have any paint to tackle that would need 2.5..but am thinking I have some minor swirls that dont quite need the FI2..but more than AIO...I was wondering if SSR1 would fit in between the two?

Also.what are your thoughts on ordering PB EX-P after having just placed my order for UPP yesterday...Is it worth it to have both..or should I atleast try out the UPP first?

Finally any thoughts on EX-P vs. EX?

Thanks so much for answering my questions and depleting my bank account...:p

FI II is fairly aggressive on the cut chart.... about the same as SSR 2. SSR1 will be a lot less aggressive and, IMHO, is always a good product to have in your arsenal. So you're correct in that SSR1 would fit right in between SSR2 and AIO.

As far as whether to get EX-P, just depends on what kind of Autopian you are. :D

I think you'll be quite happy with AIO/UPP but a lot of Autopians just like to experiment as well. Based on Sean's comments, I went and bought some of the new EX-P and it's definitely deeper looking than the old EX-P (and easier to work with.)

It actually looks a lot like UPP. Very clear and decent depth but still not as much as UPP, IMHO. EX-P's always had great durability for me so while I can't say for sure since I just put it on, I expect it to out last UPP.

EX-P vs. EX? EX is definitely wetter looking but not as clear. More of a carnauba look. Great for darker colors, not my choice for lighter metallics. Don't get me wrong, it looks great on light metallics but it mutes out the flakes a bit more which isn't what I personally like.

Thanks for all of the advice guys..I really appreciate it.

I think I might order some SSR1...and while Im there some EX as well. (I usually use P21S on my car..but thought I might apply some EX and see how I like it and then maybe top that with P21S..:nixweiss )
