ScratchX and holograms

I've been cleaning up my 2004 CRV, it's never been touched by a carwash or a rotary polish machine and always washed very carefully. It had 2 coats of Zaino on it from last fall. Anyway I've notice holograms or swirls on almost all the panels. I had some Megs scratchX on the shelf and gave it a try by hand in small areas and it worked perfectly removing all signs of the defects. So what I don't understand is how can something as mild as ScratchX take care of holograms, most autopian's say I might need a rotary. Is this surface contaminated with something that causes these reflections? Were these really holograms? Here is picture of hood before, they are gone now.

I had similar type holograms/swirls on my new paintjob. I applied clay, 2 coats of Zaino Z5, 1 coat of Z2-Pro and used Scratch X on some of the more obvious marring/light scratches and the holograms are gone completely, the swirls are almost completely gone. Sometimes all it takes is a mild application of polish and/or wax to correct things. Perhaps it was only a light marring due to washing and toweling the car off and not in the paint at all so it didn't take much to fix it?

Now many would say I just hid the defects but before I do anything aggressive like a rotary I prefer to try the more gentle approach and retain as much paint surface as possible.

Since my car is a driver that really can never be perfect if I'm to use it the way I do I'm happy with the results. To some it may not be enough. If you are happy then go with it and keep a tube of Scratch-X handy. :)

This was the first time I used Scratch X and I'm impressed with the stuff. It was great for "spot fixing" small imperfections before applying the Zaino.

This looks to be a classic sign of finish marring and not holograms. Holograms are neatly patterned across the surface in tight swirls. If I had to guess, the marring was most likely induced with a combination of drying with a chamois (real or synthetic), heat, and debris â€â€œ either dust or pollen. If youâ€â„¢re experiencing heavy airborne debris like pollen, dry inside the garage if possible and rinse the chamois in clean water. For example, here in the South the pollen is REALLY bad. Iâ€â„¢ll dry a panel, rinse the chamois in clean water, wring dry, and move on. Good luck :)
