Removing ink from leather, was I lucky?

I borrowed by wifes new Passat, got ink on the passenger side leather seat and in an act of desperation used bug and tar remover to save by neck. It worked perfectly, no discoloration, just as perfect as before I goofed up.

Was I lucky?

bug and tar remover on leather...? wow. At least you're not in the doghouse, I guess. :D

I dunno, actually. It kinda depends on the leather and the ink... like, most fountain pen inks are water based and come off of stuff pretty easily. Ballpoints, rollerballs, and such would probably be a bit harder. Sharpies would be a bish, also.

Anyone?

It was a ballpoint pen which I left on the seat during the last heatwave here, what a mess, a medium tan leather.
