Ok, so I washed and clayed my new 2005 525i, which was deliverd in the worse condition possible to me back in Feburary. There is swirls and scratchs (not deeper through the clear) in the paint. I started off by taping off a section on the hood. Took out my Makita rotary and blue edge pad, then I slapped on some SSR2.5 buffed. Looked under light still had swirls went over with Menzerna Finial Polish and still had swirls. This is my usual plan of attack, I have dont numerous cars with this combo and I alwas get a flawless finish. What do you think the problem is ? I know German paints are softer then American and all, so shouldnt it be even easier to remove imperfections. ?

Can anyone chime in... im really frustrated. I think I should go back out and do, Edge green and DACP followed by intensive polish and then finial polish. ?

Im kind of scared of the paint here, as I hear its softer so im trying to be extra carefull with the rotary. Even though I have used it countless times on different vehicles.

Not all German paints are softer than other manufacturers from other countries. Audi's Spies-Hecker clear and Mercedes PPG Ceramiclear are evidence of this. I understand BMW might be following with a similar ceramic particle embedded paint from BASF, IIRC .

On Audi clear I use the PI III ( now Perfect It 3000) twins or Menzerna. In particular the "PO twins" : PO 85R and PO106FF. Via rotary , those ought to laugh at swirls.

Frozen,

Some of the German clear is soft........... but some is very, very hard...... like Audi clear. You may not be going aggressive enough.

By chance, does your Bimmer have the new German ceramic clear coat?

Today, to remove a scratch from a 3 series BMW I had to use a cutting pad with Menzerna PG, I had to go over it twice. I know it's your car, but the rules are the same, if one abrasive combination doesn't work for you climb another step :jump

I will have to go over the whole car with DACP and a green pad, then follow with SSR2.5 and a blue pad, then Menzerna FP. I find nothing out there works as well as FP, for finial buffing. What other combo would you recommend. ?

One other question, what do you do near the area where the licenese plate resides. ? Its very hard to get in their with a rotary, I don't have a PC so its my only choice.

JGV.. LONG TIME NO SEE!!!!

BMW is not using the PPG Cermi Clear coat that Mercedes is using, I believe Audi is just using a normal clear coat but its harder then most.

Whatever the case, it sounds like JGV found the BMW paint to be pretty hard.

JGV,

Wish that site was in english........ I'd love to stop by!

Boss........whenever you want to stop by you're welcome!! Steve and CharlesW introduced there, and even tho you don't understand what's there, everyone will understand you and reply in English :) Be my guest.

Frozen, sometimes I stop by :lol look, you can use the green pad with either DACP, Menzerna IP or SSR 2.5 and follow with SSR1 or Menzerna FP, but what rocks now is the Menzerna FF (Final Finish) PO85RD. It leaves a finish you wont believe. ;)

JGV you are going to put me in dept, Im gettng ready to drop another order at premium autocare.

Meguiars Hyper Wash
Meguiars Hyper Dressing
Meguiars Wheel Brightner
Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner ( I am running out of APC+)
Meguiars Detailer Line Matching Spray Bottles
Meguiars Microfiber Waffle Weave Drying Towel

Now I have to add some of that Menzerna stuff.... Is that for use on Cermiclear, clearcoats ? or everything ?

Also JGV what rpm's would you buff DACP with green pad with. ? Do you have any picutre of how you tape you vehicles up, when you compound them. ?

BTW, Nice site, you should install Vbulletins English Language add on so each user can have their own language specified in their preferences.

A few sites I designed recently, I need to add some langage packs to them as well. Got many Italian, Polish, German visitors.

Thanks boss, it feels bad showing them off so much. But by showing them off on other forums, I have gotten almost all of the members I practically have. Nothing works better then the internet, word of mouf does not really cut it anymore.

I see you like the new GT500, Its not bad. I think it will be another big hit like the z06, so many mods and incredible performance numbers.

Oh yeah........... I love the new GT 500! :drool

Yes the internet is an amazing place.......... sometimes good......... sometimes bad! :D You are doing some nice work there...... keep it up!

Thanks, learning html/css/php is really tough. Forum design is a little easier yet still tricky if you want a non-stock look you need to know your graphics and baisc html knowledge to make it all peace togather. On the other hand making sites from scratch php/css/html is needed.

Thanks for the compliments, hopefull your next detail pictures will be of your new Shelby GT500. Id love to see one dark blue with white or silver stripes and cream or ivory leather. I think ford should be more open to customization from the factory with their very high end cars. Like the FordGT and GT500 and such, maybe they are. Im to knowledgible on Fords.

Few pictures of a GT500 someone posted on my site....
