P21S Wax vs. Platinum

Okay, I want to order some new stuff today, probably from 4starplatinum with the sale going on. I've narrowed it down to 2 choices:

1. P21S Carnuba Wax & the Bodywork Wash

or

2. Platinum (pre-cleaner, wash, QD, paint care)

It will be going on mainly 24 hour outdoors vehicles, both our own and customers. I know Platinum probably will last longer, but I don't want to end up in the same disappointed boat as I'm in now with the Klasse results. But, will the P21S give a deep, shimmering, shine that's better enough to make me forget long-term durability?

I know I've made a lot of posts in the past 2 days about what to use, but there's just so much!!

Comparing wax products to polymer products is really comparing apples and oranges. Both products have their pros and cons, the choice depends on what you are willing to live with.

P21s caranuba will give you a very nice deep shine, but it won't last very long, 2-3 weeks

Platinum will give a little less of a shine but will last longer, 2-3 months.

Just depends on what you are willing to live with.

Hi ShowroomLincoln ,

I use Mothers Reflections, which is a resin based product, is that same as polymer?

My car is Silver and I want a get a brighter shine, so Polymer products like Klasse, BF or Platinum would be better, is that correct?

Thanks for your advice!

Yes, Reflections is a polymer product.

Silver can be a hard color to work with, my car is silver as well. Personally I use Zaino on my car. I like the increased gloss that really helps bring out the true color of the car and makes it almost glow.

There are many ways you could increase the look of your car, you could put a nice wax on top of the polymer product, or go with just straight wax if you don't mind re-waxing every 2 weeks. Do a search of the forum for "best on silver" and you should get lots of usefull ideas. :xyxthumbs

Nothing is really all that bad about Klasse, as it's actually quite high quality stuff, which is why I bought it in the first place. I love the effectiveness and ease of the All in One, it's just that I too have had problems with the SG. I think mainly because I applied it wrong, using a dry foam applicator, like one site recommended. Because of that, it took me hours to remove and then the "sunlight" results were not that great. Shine is great out of direct light, but when the sun hits the hood for example, it looks like crap up close. That, and while okay, there isn't that much "spice" to the shine on our pure black Avalanche. There's no depth or shimmer, like I've heard with carnubas, despite less durability.

Maybe I could try the SG again, just in a different way, but I might just put the stuff in a closet and forget about it. It gives the best durability & protection, but I'm willing to sacrifice a little of that for added look. I do a relatively thorough detail every weekend, so I am willing to put some work into keeping it up to its best.

I still want to use the AIO as a base, because it's some great stuff, but would like something different over it that offers at least a little durability, but gives a carnuba or show-like deep, liquid shimmer.

I'll tell you, certain people think I'm nuts about this, but one day I'll have it all figured out! Every 5 minutes I change my mind about what to get, if anything!

Beach,

How many layers of Klasse SG have you put on the vehicle? My experience with SG on dark colors has been that you see best results after about 3 layers, and that you don't get much better after about 5 or so.

You might want to spend the time insteadof the miney and put on a couple more layers of the SG before giving up on it.

You can also top the SG with a good carnauba, I used Souvereign on the LS-400 last year after three layers of SG and it was awesome.

Blue Skies,

Andy
