Ok to go straight from FPII to JWAJ?

I don't think it is required unless you feel the paint needs a bit more cleaning. The first layer of AJ will just be a bit harder to apply, as the surface will not be as slick as after Prime.

What evidence is there to suggest that Prime offers a superior base over bare paint, if the surface doesn't need any more cleaning/polishing?

mburnickas,

Why do you need a good basecoat? Do you get better depth, durability, or shine?

Not being argumentative, but trying to understand the logic behind why it is required as you say.

Has anyone went straight to AJ:T after a finish polish? I am going to try the Menzerna PO106F/RMG 70/30 mix and was wondering if AJ:T would have any issues bonding to it.

The directions on AJ say to apply to a well prepped surface. I am sure you'd be fine although you may not get 100% of the durability you'd get with using Prime as a base.

You can however buffing on prime acrylic will enhance the finish that little bit more

So not absolutely necessary but recommended
