Oil based vs Water based tire dressings?

As far as oil based goes, Meg's High Endurance Gel. As for water based (which is only what I use now). Poorboy's Bold n' Bright.

I generally avoid oil based dressing - just don't like them much. I am curious about trying Meg's High Endurance though.

Irrespective of the debate over whether oil-based dressing damage your tires, I don't like them because they are too oily (duh), messy, hard to clean off your hands (and everything else), etc.

What he said - I find it extremely difficult to clean up...I used to use Meg's Endurance in the past but it was also a dust magnet.

Stoner's More Shine Less Time is the best stuff I've ever used. No silicone, doesn't attract dust, and lasts a long time.

It isn't so much being oil based as it is silicone based that ruins the built-in UV protectants.

Uhh, I think silicone is in most dressings...PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) is the most prominent ingredient in a lot of water-based dressings. I think it's more solvents like petroleum distillates and such that dry out tires.

For me, Oil Based: Chemical Guys "gel"

Water based: Mothers FX Tire Shine

Anyone know of a water based tire dressing with good durability?

Poorboys bold n bright.

Probably my favorite stuff that I've used so far. Doesn't sling, and two coats gets you as much shine as could ever want.
