Oakes - Detailed: 2009 Nissan GT-R - White Pearl

This vehicle was a recent purchase by it's owner and the goal was to get it back to like new/perfect condition. When the car arrived, we discovered it's poorly installed clear bra and the owner had decided he wanted it removed prior to arrival. The GTR has a significantly harder clear coat than most production Nissans, making it more resistant to marring/swirling. With that said, the paint was not in desperate shape, but had it's fair share of defects. So we went top to bottom with this car to make it better than new. The white pearl color really sets the new GT-R off!

Process: car was degreased with P21S TAW, washed with CG citrus wash. once it was off, did test panel and decided it needed wool pad to get rid of all defects. whole car was done with wool pad and menz 203, then followed with menz 203 and orange pad and finished with menz 106 and white pad. then p21s paint cleanser. wet diamond sealant was applied and left overnight to cure. took it off in morning. rinsed the car and applied Wolfgang Fuzion wax. wheels and brake calipers were sealed with Rejextires were dressed, inside received quick vacuum since it was in great shape. wing was not removed due to double sided tape on most of 3 mounting points, didnt want to brake it either.

poor quality clear bra was taken off per owners request (took 20 minutes, didn’t even need heat gun, it pealed right off with minimal effort). Worth installation quality we have seen, but at least no visible razor cuts

That PPF work was awful!

Nice work. I hate doing white cars for the simple reason - they look great in-person but it rarely does it justice in photos.

Those cars are insane, I may possibly be privileged enough to do some work on this one Stillen next month or early July if I play my cards right.

I was talking to an insurance assessor the other day who had organised repairs on a silver one. It had 7 distinctly different layers of paint. He recommended staying well away from them hehe..

Thanks guys! They're significantly bigger cars in person, but still fun to work on!

Finished Photos Outside - I had the Circular Polarizer on the camera outside, simply due to the glare of the sun off the white paint was making the pictures very bright. Polarizer helped but definitely cut down on the gloss of the paint in the photos.

Hope you enjoyed this as much as we have! The white pearl paint really completes this car!

Oakes!

WOW! that pearl is insane in a couple of those pics! and I love what you did with pointing the halogen lights up at the wall making a dramatic lighting look, It really sets the mood!

Thanks guys! I liked the little trick I tried with the halogens, the back of my shop doubles as a nice studio set up. I will be using it when I can, wanted to really maximize the gloss for the pictures, as it is difficult to capture on a white car!
