I'll warn you now, there are quite a bit of pictures!

Yet another Evo has made it's way into my garage this month, this one needing just as much help as the others, but dare I say this is the best looking one I've worked on thus far. No offense to the other guys! This is a full exterior detail on another example of Mitsubishi's quality paint department, needless to say, this great looking Evo became even more so.

Process:

Menzerna PowerGloss - yellow - front end

Menzerna PowerFinish - Orange

Menzerna SuperFinish - Green

Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant - Blue

Vehicle as it arrived, did say he was bringing it dirty haha

After a full wash/degrease and clay bar, once dry, inspected the paint under the spotlights to find similar paint damage as the previous Tarmac Black Evo with 609hp.

As you can see, the paint was in desperate need of correction. The following photos are some progress shots, 50/50s, like night and day.

=] glosssssy! What a wonderful day to be detailing. What lens do you have on that camera?

I forget specifically which one was on the camera, I believe it was the 200mm...I'll get back to you on this haha. It was gorgeous out!

So did I actually, it was like taking off a car cover as I cleaned them haha. I actually LOVE this sealant, glad I got it.

GLOSS! great job.

Thanks! I apologized to the owner for accidentally turning his paint into a mirror, I reminded him it was black when it was dropped off :woohoo:

was this a tuff detail for ya?

Since it's the...5th Evo I've done in the past month, it went a lot smoother. However all those angled body panels and creases make it much more fun :buffing:

Nice job, saw this on offtopic.com as well. :)

Thanks! Link? I bet Ryan/Seven posted it

Awesome job! I'll be posting pictures of a white one I did a few days ago...Check 'em out! Was this a pc or a rotary job out of curiosity. That shot of the polish residue on the paint looks like it was done with a pc!

What shocks me most are the brake calipers. These cars are known for there cracking clearcoat on this high-heat area, especially on neglected ones. Yet, the calipers look to be in good condition. Am I seeing right?

You are seeing right, however the rear passenger one is starting to go but that's due to brake fluid spurting on it AND the wheel :( If I'm not mistaken, some of the late 06 IXs got warranty repairs/better factory coatings. I'm most likely way off on that but I feel like theres some merit to it. I just did a white one 2 days before this one haha, the thread is on here.

Yes, it was a PC job, this paint is rather easy to correct so I prefer using the PC on it

Thanks for the response...Dealerships always try hard to resist a warranty claim for the clearcoat failure on these calipers. If my memory is correct one caliper alone costs $1400 to replace!!!

WOW with using the pc...if it wasn't for that pic I would have never guessed.

BRAKE FLUID SPILL!!! Poor car...
