I bring you a complete overhaul of this 2006 Evolution IX in Tarmac Black, the vehicle has been washed once in the last year and was in desperate need of a proper detail. The vehicle needed to be done in preparation for a photoshoot so my task was to make sure nothing went untouched, having an entire week at my disposal I went over everything and also documented as much as possible. Both fortunately and unfortunately this Evo was an excellent candidate for paint correction, so I was able to use this to my advantage as you will see in the pics below.

This particular vehicle, just dyno'd 609hp 519tq making it quite a machine, now it looks just as good as it's dyno sheet.

Process:

Full wash/degrease/clay

Menzerna Power Gloss - Orange (heavier areas)

Menzerna Intensive Polish - Orange

Menzerna 203 - Green

Menzerna Final Polish II - White

Optimum Opti - Seal

Pure Caranuba wax

Blood, sweat, tears, sweat and dedication

To start off, here are a few before photos of the car as it arrived, before the wash/degrease/clay of the vehicle

After the full degrease/wash/clay the vehicle was dried and then pulled outside in the remaining daylight to get an inspection of the paint condition. Once that was done, I pulled it back in to see how it looked under the spotlights...these photos show pretty well what I was up against.

After figuring out the best combination of pads/polishes, the correction got under way. As you saw with the before pics of the paint above, these photos show the difference between the corrected and uncorrected portions of the panels. Now onto the 50/50 shots!

Starting off with the passenger rear quarter panel:

Now for the trunk 50/50 photos

Here is a bigger scale 50/50, this shows the difference between the corrected rear as opposed to the uncorrected front door

After almost a total of 25 hours spent just on the paint correction alone, these photos document the condition of the paint in comparison to the before photos above. Ran into a few hiccups, such as a pad failing and polish drying too fast or not at all, but the final result truly shows the work that was put in. These pictures were taken after the correction, but before the sealant and wax were applied, I'll let the pics do the talking...

Everybody's favorite pics, the FINAL results, pictures were taken after the sealant/wax application and it's final wash, start it off with the reflection photos and then the all around vehicle photos. It is a HUGE relief to finally be done this particular Evo..

Man, that Evo looks sick!

Great job man. Did you do the interior, too?

Also, what tire shine is that? I like the look of it.

Wow, that's absolutely incredible! The car was trashed when you got it!

And HlxDrummer I don't think there is any tire shine on it. Owner was probably worried about splatter. I bet he drives the crap out of it.

Great turnaround man! that car was a wreck! I love that after shots. may I ask what stting you had your camera on on the outside after shots? Looks great man.

It's a special mixture from my grandfathers, brothers friends cousin that they used to use on carriages...

haha sarcasm aside, it's actually Eagle one wet tire shine that i never use but I was out of my regular stuff so I diluted it on to an applicator pad and really rubbed it in and gave it a day to dry.

Nice job! Seems we've been getting too many trashed Evo's lately.

I've got 3 more Tarmac black Evos pending, claiming the same condition...

Great work on the Evo, I bet you'll remember this car for a while!

I won't be able to forget it! He has a few shop cars he wants me to do where this Evo rests  Thanks!

Thank you! The car has only been driven about 300 miles this year :( It's been sitting while the owner has been getting his new shop up and running

Thanks Barry! I actually had the camera on No Flash, I forget the photog lingo/specifics basically just a raw setting that captures what the naked eye gets. Same setting used for every pic you see here. However, since it gets no assistance in taking the pics, the shutter is much slower depending on the light so a tripod is REQUIRED.

awesome job!

Thank you!

I'd don't care for Lancers :ignore , but the detail is really impressive.

It seemed highly swirled for a car that wasn't washed in a year. Dirt shouldn't swirl paint unless its moved around on the paint. I guess the swirls must have come from abuse prior to the last wash.

I really love that 50/50 of the fin on the rear wing! You definitely achieved that mirror look for black!:cooleek:

Thank you! The vehicle was previously "detailed" before it sat and well...we can see for ourselves the quality of that job including the burn through the paint on the bumper that the owner knew about. I like the wing shot as well

yep, as an Evo owner i'm always happy to see a nice shine come back to one. Definitely an incredible job done.. I know the owner must have been ecstatic huh?

"previously detailed" !? oh my! :nervous2:

Great save! I like the dog too.

Thanks guys!

The dog seems to be popular haha, 100% pure bred German Shepard, one of the best dogs I've ever experienced.

The owner was very excited, he claimed that he's never seen the metallic flakes pop like that.
