As I was QDing yesterday's quickie detail (wash, FK 185, FX-100, 425), I heard a loud knock. Ahem, a beetle fell on the hood. No prob, it flew away. Then a second knock; even louder than the first. The same beetle hit the hood again, but this time it was K.O.'d.
I realized that it was a lesser silver water beetle (Hydrochara caraboides). It was trying to dive into the hood! Talk about wetness!
I gently lifted it up with a piece of paper, and put it in my turtle pond. After a few 'unconscious' seconds it was swimming and diving happily...
