Meg's #80 and #83...

How many of you still use these 2 polishes? I'm embarrassed to say that I've never tried them. How do they compare to the Optimum and Menzerna polishes? Do they dust much? What's their working time? How do they finish out?

The boutique brands tend to reign on these detailing boards, as one would expect, but how well do the older brands stack up...e.g. Meguiar's and Hi-Temp?

Just being curious.

I still use them regularly. They really seem to excel on single stage paints and German paints while Optimum is better (for me) on Japanese and American paints and is a lot more sun friendly. I get some dusting with DACP, very little with Speed Glaze.

I still use #80 (Speed Glaze) pretty extensively and I use #83 (DACP) quite a bit as well. I primarily use #83 as a spot or area treatment for serious swirls. I do agree with Scottwax though about Megs not being very heat/sun friendly. I can't really comment on the Optimum Polish beacuase I have yet to get any to try.

Not to toot my own horn, but if you look at most of my post's, they all start with #80 as the basis for the job.

It seems like here (Autopia) people get reallllly hung up on using the boutique brands and I will agree that the Meg's 80 series isn't for everyone, but, if Joe @ Superior Shine uses Meg's, and we all know the quality of his work, then that stands as a testimony to it efficiency.

Technique > product

...but Meguiars 80 series polishes are top notch, IMO.

I absolutely agree with you Scott. Hey while your here, what the best place to get Optimum? In your humble opinion.

OHHH OHHH OHHH OHHH I forgot to add "If Mike Phillips and Rich (Octaneguy) use Meg's.....well you get my drift" :bow

What would the dusting levels of these 2 polishes compare to?...hopefully they're much lower than the Poorboy's SSR line.

Also, any insight on the earlier question about fillers?

I cant comment on the dusting, but Yes, DACP (83) does have oils that will only temporarily hide swirls/
