i am getting a pc 7424. i saw the set that is offered on this site from sonus? should this be the way to go? or should i get something else? i want the velcro backing plate with velcro pads and i dont believe the sonus kit is made for that. i will be using it on a brand new 05 jet black bmw m3 so i need the best pads possible. should i just get the pc and buy some velcro pads seperately? what are the best velcro pads? i will be aplying zaino and maybe some #9 swirl remover if necessary so i dont think i will need any cutting pads. please let me know of the best products i can get. thanks.

I just bought my 7424 and I got the sonus kit and it came with a free bottle of sonus paint work cleanser and the guide to detailing on cd. I have a black EVO VIII and that setup did wonders with my 1z line. You were saying you dont need the cutting pad? You might as well get the sonus kit because it has everything you need in it, who know one day you might need a cutting pad, I know I sure did. In my oppinion the sonus kit is hands down the best bang for the buck.

nice i just put my order in today :bounce

allright so you guys think the sonus pads are the best quality and the way to go? will place the order once i have confirmation of this.

also would meguiars #9 with a polishing pad or a cutting pad take out all the light swirls from the dealership? and if i want to detail my friends cars which have medium swirls would i need to get a stronger abrasive and use it with a cutting pad? i would be hesitant to use a high abrasive or cutting pad on a new 60k car and i am also hesitant about using the pc but i here great reviews and that it idiot prove. i will try it on my old beater car to get the hang of it.

Yes, the Sonus pads are a good choice. You may need something more than #9, I would have some #80 on hand just in case. It's a good polish and you'll eventually find a use for it. Use it with a polish (green) pad.

just wondering what is a cutting pad???

A cutting pad is designed to be more aggressive (abrasive) for removal of more severe paint defects. A trade off in using a âہ“trueâ€Â cutting pad is it may induce some minor hazing that will need to be removed with a less aggressive product on a polish pad.

There are a couple of different types of cutting pads. The Sonus and LC orange pads are a "light" cutting pad. Not as much bite as the normal cutting pad so theyâ€â„¢re less apt to leave as much (if any) hazing (depending on the product used).

The yellow LC pad is a more abrasive cutting pad than the orange Sonus or orange LC.

Always start out with the least abrasive pad/product you think will work and step up in aggressiveness if needed.

one question tho

how would i know when to use what pad for a certain wax/polish?

anything that says removes stratchs and swirls = cutting

makes car shine = polish?

This is something youâ€â„¢ll have to learn from reading âہ“how-toâ€Â articleâ€â„¢s, different forum threads about what pads/products other members are using, and experience.

The polish pad is used more than any other for minor defect removal. A cutting pad is used when the defects are too severe for a polish pad to remove them. When you have some more specific product/defect removal questions Iâ€â„¢m sure youâ€â„¢ll get plenty of advice from members.
