G35 Exterior Detail

My sister's friend liked what I did to her car so he had me do the exterior of his. Considering the car has just over a thousand miles on it, the exterior was dull, had zero protection, and had very minor swirling.

Process:

-Wash with 1Z Exclusiv (now one of my favorite washes)

-SSR1 with a Sonus Blue pad

-SSR3 with a Sonus SFX1 pad, SSR2 with SFX2 pad on the rear bumper to remove/reduce scratches caused by the bumper being backed into

-Souveran on paint

-Pinnacle Black Oynx on tires

-303 in wheel wells

-Poorboy's Wheel Sealant on rims

-Pinnacle Cycle metal polish cloths on exhaust tips

Sorry, no before pictures as I didn't have enough time. Considering this was a spur-of-the-moment exterior detail, I think it came out very nice; I made $60 plus he is teaching me to drive a standard (must be worth something, I think I put 5,000 miles of wear and tear on his clutch tonight). I am going to get together with him next weekend to further my standard transmission skills (ha!) and I will probably quickly wash and QD it and maybe get better pictures.

Sorry, no sun shots as I finished around 6:30.

beautiful! :xyxthumbs

p.s i love it when cars have no front license plate, it just looks cleaner/better.

That must be a fun car to drive M/T. Maybe a bit difficult to start smoothly though if you don't know how to drive a stick well. 290HP will do that. :)

The car looks awesome.

Yes, it is difficult to drive smoothly. Even the owner, who has driven a manual since he started driving, causes the car to shudder. Love how the car feels like it is on rails though! Something similar will definitely be my next car (after college).

"Wash with 1Z Exclusiv (now one of my favorite washes)"

Yes and mine too. A great wash.

Nice job on the detail! :xyxthumbs I like the rims.

Said it before and I'll say it again, one of the best looking cars on the market right now.

Looks sexy... Almost DECA chick level ;)

Very nice! I like how Souveran looks on that color, it really gives me an idea of how it'll look like on my car. :up

Wow, you're learning how to drive stick with a G35? Lucky!

My mother has the G35x (4-door). It is such a great car to detail due to the wide, flat panels and the VERY rewarding hood profile. Nice work on that blue. Does he have the same incredible brake dust problem my mother has?

The brake dust wasn't bad; the owner says he washes the car weekly. The rims are nice looking but they are a pain to work on!

tkr,

Heh, yep, not a bad car to learn to drive a standard on but next weekend will probably be the last time. He is moving up north for another job in May. Definitely a tricky car because the throttle and clutch are so responsive.

My GFs G35 dusts like a mofo...never seen that much brake dust in so little time.....you would think she road races

Anyhow, excellent work on that G35, it looks incredible!

Better take a look at BMW's brake dusted wheels!! :shocked

The G35's had some rotor problems to begin with which also leads to more break dust. IF your GF has the optional Brembos than dusting is inevitable!! I can tell when my acura is starting to have brake problems is when the brake dust level gets excessive beyond its normal levels.

Other than that, the G35 Coupe is just plain HAWT!

Very nice car... and great detailing job... I like the house in the background, too. It's a shame when people buy a car like that and don't keep up with protecting the finish in the first few months.

I offered to detail a friend's cousins g35 really cheap since he works at the corner of the biggest intersection in town... I would get a lot of business from it. His response was "I'll give him $10 or something, but not professional detailer rates" so I think I'm going to pass lol.

PS: why are you learning to drive MT?

The most experience I have had until now was driving a MT Dakota on cleared land. To reduce the cost of the detail, the owner offered to teach me the basics and at least get me on the neighborhood roads. It is something I need to know how to do so I took the offer.

Thanks. Even though it is my parents' house, I put a lot of time and energy into the entire process of designing and building it.

If you think that it would bring you lots of new business, you should do it and when he hands you a ten you'd simply refuse it. Tell him to get some more gas or something.

Let him know indirectly that he is a cheap b...rd! ::mad:

Even though I have no intentions of ever owning a manual, I cannot go through life not knowing how to drive one. :)

She has an auto so she has the normal brake setup, but today I told her she should just buy black powdercoated rims because there is no way to keep up with it. Her front wheels are pretty much blackand we just cleaned her car:shocked

Other than that, the car is incredible...leather, navigation, etc etc etc....could use a bit more torque though, it takes a while to get that thing going

I see.

I learned to drive at age 6 (Manual) but after this car I will never buy another MT car. Waste of time.

You know what, that is a great idea! I know this guy's whole family... they all are like that. If I play it off like I make a ton of money and his $10 means nothing to me, he will probably be speechless, since money is all they are about.

.... but then again he'd probably forget about it in 10 minutes and brag to all of his friends how he got a free professional detail

It's a good idea, but I definately have to tweak it more to get him to feel bad, lol
