Did something stupid.

Yesterday I took my car out to warm it up. It was covered with a layer of dust from sitting in my garage. I decided to use my California Duster and dust the car off. By doing so, I created fine scrathes across the hood. This never happened before and it wiil not happen again since it went right intop the garbage. I wanted to know if this would remove them. I plan on getting some #9 today and using my random orbital buffer. It is not a PC but a Black and Decker which I think runs at 4400rpm. Will this remove the marks?

It should remove them. Try a small area first and see what it does. If it does not work the first time go over the same area a second time and see if it works. You may need to go to DACP if all else fails.

I have used the CD for two years and have never had it scratch the surface.

depends on how severe the "scratches" are. #9 is very gentle.

If it doesn't work, I would immediately switch over to the two Menzerna polishes.

Is it only the hood that is affected?

Yes, because I stopped when I moved back to admire the reflection on my hood from using NXT a week or two before.

Unless you really hammered the surface with the CD, you probably only marked the NXT. I would try another coat and see if that solves the problem before going after it with #9.

I have never had a problem with the CD, but then I don't use it when the car has been sitting more than a day or two.

Well, I'm thinkin' apologies to the CCD are in order!

Mine is 20 years old, washed (correctly) only once.

To the original developer of the CCD/CWB:

I hope that life down there in the Keys is wonderful! You deserve it!

Just a CCD observation i've noticed years ago. The parafin wax on the CCD will streak if applied to a hot/warm surface. You mentioned that you warmed up the car prior to the CCD.

Is the CCD new? What probably happened is the parafinn wax combined with the winter dust on the car made the APPEARANCE of scratches. This happens to me too, but only in the winter. A QD would have fixed it ;)

Scared the crap out of me the first time too lol

Yes, apologies to the almighty CCD. I think it is about 10-15 years old. Not really sure. It did scare the hell out of me. I have had the car since August and put a little over 1000 miles on it. It sits in the garage. I will be making a new purchase of a CCD in the near future. I think after 15 years it is needed. Thanks to all.
