choosing more rotary pads

i'm trying to decide what pads to get for my hitachi rotary. i've been using the LC 6.5" pads that i already had for my PC. i've found that the orange light cut pad seems too firm...i get a lot of grabbing and chatter with it...and the surface doesn't give good contact unless i use a bit of pressure (which i do not want to do with the rotary). the other pads work fine...white...black...fairly easy for me to keep everything smooth and even and they flex quite well for good surface contact.

after searching and reading other similar topics, i have my selection narrowed down to:

--6.5" LC CCS

--7.5" LC Curved

--6.5" Meg's Soft Buff pads

i wish there was a curved 6.5" pad (or is there?)...

any input on which pads might help out with the "chatter" a bit, especially on the more aggressive pad? part of it is my inexperience, but the orange LC i have sure seems to be too stiff.

thanks-

I have been using 6" LC pads with my Hitachi, and really like them. I know what you mean with the orange pad, it's real grabby isn't it. I want to get 6" flat pads when I make another order. I think there is a 6" CCS pad, if so I try that next. I have some flat pads and they seem to work the best with the rotary, just the way they glide over the surface is what I like most.

I just swapped from the 7.5" curved LC pads to the 6.5" Meg's Soft Buff. Personally I like the smaller flat pads a whole lot better. The curved pads seem to want to "wiggle" to much where the flat pad just seems to glide wherever you want it to.

However, I haven't tried a flat 7.5" pad so I don't know if it's the fact the Meg's pads are flat or the fact that they are smaller that makes them easier to use. Either way I must say I'm very happy with them. I have both burgandy cutting pads and the yellow polishing pads.

Hmmm, I don't have any of the 6.5" LC orange pads, but I do have the 6.5" LC CCS orange light cutting and it is a very stiff pad so I don't know if that will resolve the issue you're having. I find that the orange CCS pad is even stiffer and more dense than the yellow.

The Meg's pads have a little more "flex" to them, but I find that with the combination of the Meg's backing plate, and the small velcro backing on the pad itself, the backing plate ends up cutting into the pad itself.

hmmm...from everyone's comments i'll now pick from:

--Meg's pads

--Edge 2000 (wave or standard?) :)

the Edge pads are expensive to jump into...i know they are essentially 2x the pads...i liked the video and the centering ability though.
