Catback exhaust

I just got a exhaust in the mail, should I metal polish all the pipes with mothers metal polish before i put it on? The whole thing is stainless steel and the muffers and tips are stainless steel polished.

do the pipes with polish and hit with a good sealant. you will not stop them from turning brown tho. I tried to with my borla's and it still happened.

NO polish, wax, sealant, etc. intended for paint will keep you exhaust looking clean and shiny. The exhaust gets to hundreds of degrees hot and will burn off anything you put on there. For optimal protection and aesthetics (and performance), having them coated is the best way - Jet-Hot, Swayne, etc.

I have had the FK 1000p on my stainless tips with no problems. 1000p is marketed as a 'hi temp paste wax' with tolerances in the 100's of degrees.

the tips of my Borla catback get quite hot. After a spirited run I do not believe i can touch them with bare hands. Metal polish should be good. I will have to try the FK 1000p sometime.

Cheers

Just keep the tips polished. Mothers, Flitz, ect. Then if you feel like it put a coat of sealant or wax on the, won't hurt.

I just intstalled a new Borla and polished with EO metal polish, AIO and then SG... I highly doubt the SG will hold up. Even though there is a tip, it does get very hot.

I guess the best thing to do is clean and polish it when you clean your car to prevent buildup I guess.
