Went out to my car today to find two nickel sized bird bombs on her...

Wiped em off with QD and a MF the second I saw em.

Etched.

balls.

I have S100 and SEC on the car now..

What can I use to protect the paint from this happening again? Does anything work?

Leaving your car in the garage, basically.

IMHO, nope! Unless you have some really strong wax, it's difficult. I have many layers of 3M Perfect-It paste wax on one of my ungaraged cars and have left bombs on there of a day or two and they come right off (it's a white car so you can't see any damage if any).

I saw a guy at the BMW dealer getting an estimate for a repaint of his trunk on a brand new bimmer.

The goal is to keep your car protected as normal and get off ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, i figured as much..

The car is black, so it's pretty obvious when it happens...

They weren't there when I got to work, but were when I went to lunch.. a absolute maximum of 4 hours...

Just wondering ... Do the polymer sealants provide any better/more protection than waxes? Seems like I have not had damage from BBs -- even ones that stay a while -- and I'm a Zaino user. :nixweiss

I did get it off as fast a possible, but I guess it was a little too late...

What about the polymers? Do they offer better protection??

my experience - brand new steel grey X-5 - 10 bombs on a 3 week old car - talk about pissed - they must have nested in the palm tree i was under - 1st rule - don't park near trees

anyway = i caught it within 1 hr - went to an apartment house nearby and hosed it all off - went home and properly cleaned it off - even used a little maguires clean/wax to try and get the etching off - still looked like crap - big blotches appearing permanent

here's the good part - i had 2 coats of klassee AIO and 2 coats of SG on the car! Well - it turns out that it was the polymer that was etched - as the SG started to wear off, and as i added additional coats - the blotches are 100% gone - even under flourecent light

i swear by the protection of SG - it's like a plastic coating - i use platinum over it for a great liquidy shine but the platinum wears off in a couple of good washes - keep it layered and be sure to use klassee SG - there is no better protection imo

I agree with shep. Polymers provide much better protection. My wife's car is parked outside, and reguarly gets hit with bird bombs;1-2/week. Her car has Zaino on it. The bombs come right off when I hose the car down and have never etched the finish. Now that the Zaino is wearing off (I haven't applied a coat in 4-5 months, and am getting ready to switch to another product), it is far more difficult to remove the bombs.
