anyone ever have the urge to detail a rental car?

Black and Tan got killed this morning...



On my way to the gym, got rear ended by a dodge neon at about 30-40 mph...



The back fender is touching the wheels, the trunk is crumpled, the bumper is non existent...



You can read the license plate from the neon in my bumper, as well as make out the dodge emblem...



all sorts of F-ed up...



I smacked my head pretty good against the top frame, cut it open and my neck is already messed up... crap hurts...



Im home now, xrays showed no concussion or neck problems, just muscle stuff...



Turns out the guy is some sort of legal alien, with no card on him, and his insurance card expired about a week ago...



I'm ok, no real damage, but I think my baby is dead...



The only bit of humor I could pull out of this situation is that I'm now driving a saturn rental car, and I want to detail it.... The blue metallic 4 door one. Not a very pleasant car to drive, but the paint looks decent...



It needs a wash, and hasn't been clayed ever... It's actually a pretty car..



I prolly wont do it though. my head hurts
 
Sorry to hear about your accident. It seems like you have a level head about it despite the circumstances. I would use the oportunity to see how bad the local drive through car wash is on paint finishes. ;)
 
Very sorry to hear about your accident. Where in Philly did you get hit? I cringe everytime I have to go into the city--go to Temple for school and its a nightmare to drive there. I take the train any time I can. I was getting into my car on Cecil B. Moore Street one night and saw a women who was in a wheel chair get hit by a car that ran the light. The car didn't slow done one bit--the woman was rushed to Temple Hospital and I never found out what happened to her.



I wish you a speedy recovery. I must admit that I had a rental once that I cleaned-up. Had it after an accident--similar to yours--was rear-end by a guy on his cell phone who was leaning over to the passenger side to get some papers--doing work over the phone. He didn't see the light turned red and that I actually stopped for it.



I had a couple small bottles of Mother's cleaner wax that came with their clay bar system--used it to go over the rental--looked much better and the guy at Enterprise even mentioned the car looked different.

I had a minor accident last night, where I lost control on some mud, I had to get the car towed from a field, no damage to me and only minor straches on the car. Its strange, once I relised eveything was ok, I wished I had a digicam, the sun had caught the car in such a way that it looked incredible. The reflections from the trees were amazing. Car got covered in mud trying to get it out :(



Every rental I have had, I have cleaned. Rentals never seem to clean the glass and I hate a dirty windscreen, but once I have started I have to do the full car.

We have a friend who is a general manager at a local Ford dealership, and whenever we take one of our vehicles in for work, he tells us to go and pick anything off the lot (used cars) to drive while ours is getting fixed. Just get the keys and go. He always gets the car back cleaner than it was when it left the lot. (a show of gratitude on my part). I'd like think he realizes this, plus knowing him for thirteen years does help too. The last one we had was a Navigator. Man, was it a b***h to clean!



So, yeah, I'd detail a rental! I'm addicted!!:D
 
Jeez, sorry to here about the accident. However, if you wacked your head good and have some muscle aches, problems etc... in your back, neck etc..., should you be detailing a car, let alone a RENTAL car!?



Screw the rental car. Why bother wasting money or product on it? You want to try something new, detail a buddy's or a family member's car who really doesn't keep it clean. Personally, I'd NEVER touch a rental car. What a waste in my opinion. I'm a nut, but not psycho like you guys! (Please take that in a good way!)

Doesnt surprise me tho, I've seen some o the dumbest driving this side of Cairo here in the USA.



(Cairo ... gee ..... detailers worst nightmare - the taxi driver told me that in Cairo the horn was more important than the engine :scared )



Anyways, nah leave the rental well alone, like the other guy said, spend your sick leave shining up a friend or family members car.

Sucks about your car and your head. How's your insurance company treating you?
 
Sorry to hear about your accident! My dad (who lives in Indiana) was T-Boned in Philadelphia (Narberth) by some little old lady who ran a red light and pushed him into a telephone pole. Sent him and my brother in law to the hospital (Merry Christmas). That was a sucky Christmas.



I guess it could have been worse - luckily they were in my Dad's Cadillac Sedan deVille, but he still bruised his heart. The car was totaled. My brother-in-law (a concert violinist) injured his hands. If they had been in my brother-in-law's Stealth they might have both been killed.



Hope you take some Advil or some sort of anti-inflammatory tonight. You will be sore tomorrow! Take care of yourself.
