:hairpullevery now and then I run across cars that have aged brake dust that needs removal. I have this super strong wheel acid however it will eat a rim if there is a clear coat so is there a way to remove aged brake dust on rims with clear coats???

Are you talking about brake dust that has turned brown? P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel Formula is what works for me. Dwell time is long so I think that helps quite a bit. I'm careful with the wheel acid stuff since I don't have much experience using it.

P21S is what I use. There is Meg's Wheel brightener which is strong stuff. You could also try a clay bar, that seems to help me quite a bit.
