1993 Mercedes Benz 300 CE Coupe

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
I detailed this 1993 Mercedes Benz 300 CE Coupe this morning, and wanted to share some pics of this future classic. The car has 103k miles and has all original paint. The exterior was in need of a heavy buff and started out with:

Wash & Clay

Hi Temps Heavy cut leveler w/ yellow wool pad

3M Perfect-It Utrafina SE w/ green foam pad

P21 Concours Wax

I was very impressed with the 3M Ultrafina, and it was my first time using this product. The product last a long time on the surface and buffs away with barely any dust.

I always admired the styling of the Mercedes Benz cars of this era. I will always have a place in my heart for these pillarless squarebodied coupes.

OCKLASSE,

I agree. A good friend of mine picked it up this week, and he is a very happy with the car. My wife could not believe how big the trunk was. These are truly great cars, and will someday be considered a collectible.

Great detailing weather today if you were able to buff between the raindrops!

Started at 0830 hours, and finished up buffing at 1130 hours. It was raining off and on while detailing the interior. Luckily my 9 year old son was off from school and looking to make a buck (smart kid). He helped with the interior, and knows how to extract carpets.

You have to see him buffing with a rotary !!! I post something with that in the future !!!:2thumbs:

These will definitely be very collectible...not to mention that the W124 chassis is one of the most reliable Benz models made.

Looks great Dean.

I love working on older Mercedes. The paint is great to work with and enables you to really work it to remove defects without worrying about burning the paint. The interiors always seem to clean up nicely too. Especially the rugs.

That's awesome that your son helped you out. Can't wait to see videos of him using the rotary!

Glad to see you are liking the Ultrafina. It's an awesome polish. Did you use it with the blue UF pad?

Top notch work!!!

Beautiful:cool:

The CE's of the W124 era are all collectibles especially in this condition. Very nice!

I own an '88 4-door version and its really amazing that the W124 model is now 22 years old, and if you see one on the street its at LEAST 13 years old :)

One of the best-looking Benzes made and you only made it look better. It's also nice to remember a time when the dash in a Mercedes didn't have 150 little buttons on it.

Straight from your detail into a museum.

Great work Dean.

Great news that your son is helping out. A rotary at 9? :spot

Nice looking paint. A great car that benz.

But do the headlights always look so dull? The driver's side looks better than the off side but they both seem rather dull. Maybe it is my monitor?

Those horrendous headlights where exclusively made and fitted for all W124's destined for the North American market :( The plastic foglight cover tends to turn yellow or a dull grey over time, its next to impossible to get them looking nice again without replacing the cover.

A good number of W124 owners have removed them and replaced them with the Euro version headlights that the rest of the world got. The Euro versions are all glass and much nicer and cleaner.

Well that would explain it. I haven't seen such bad looking headlights in a car unless they were in C&B about to be cleaned up. I'm from the UK and I just couldn't picture a benz with such lights other than those worthy of being scrapped. I say get a new set of lights and that would be one fine car!
