    New car!

My dad just got a new saphire black BMW 525i. I know I have to wait a month or so before I can put an LSP on it, but what should I do in the meantime? I'm almost positive it has some dealer-installed swirls under a glaze that'll be gone after a wash or two. Thanks for the help! Oh btw...

Just a little plug for good customer service

I recently purchased a bunch of stuff from bettercarcare.com, including 4 SFX 4" spot pads. I received 6" pads instead. Today I emailed customer service for autopia-car-care.com, saying I got the wrong pads. About a half hour later I got a phone call from a customer service rep (can't...

Getting brake dust off chrome wheels

My mom's van has some really caked on brake dust on the wheels. They're chrome so I'm not sure what would damage them. I have some EO All Wheel and Tire Cleaner that I can use. Will that damage the chrome? Thanks

    What gets black this good?

Putting "it's in the prep, not the products" aside, have any of you gotten a black to look this wet/deep/superfantastic? What did you do/use? P.S. I'm prety sure that little scratch-looking thing isn't a scratch. I think it's a reflection.

1 Exterior and 2 Interior Questions

I'll start with the outside. The paint is bubbling up. We got bumped from behind a couple of years ago and I guess the body shop did a sh**ty job respraying. Had to go to a body shop for another part (driver's side 'runner' I guess you could call it) where the paint was split entirely and it...

Where to buy 2500-3000 grit wet/dry sandpaper?

I plan on doing some scratch touchups and I need some very fine wet/dry sandpaper. However, all that I can find at this grit are discs for a sander. My local home depot doesn't go very high (in the 1000's I think). Where can I find wet/dry sandpaper this fine?

    Good Shop Vac?

I have my 20% Home Depot coupon to use at Lowes so I'm trying to get as much as I can when I go in the next couple of days. I'm getting a PC, and I'd like to get a shop vac. (I'd also like to spend as little money as possible). Is this vaccum sufficient for most of my detailing needs...

Another list of products post :)

Well I finally took the plunge and spent $300 on a ton of stuff to detail my dad's (soon to be my) car. It's a black 99 528i and it's appearance is pretty poor (He just doesn't see it like I do). So anyway here's my list: Autopia Megs NXT Car Wash Sonus Acrylic Spritz Sonus Acrylic...

Repair paint chips before or after detailing?

I've looked around and have seen about a hundred posts telling me how to go about repairing a paint chip, but I haven't found the answer to this question. I have a black 99 bmw 528i that has only seen drive-through washes and crappy details. There's a ton of swirls, a deep scratch or two from...

    Engine Detailing

I found this engine detailing 'guide' on bimmerdiy.com: http://www.apexcone.com/JimPowellHomepage/TechProcedures/EngineBayCleaning/ArmorAll.html Is that a good method? If it works I'd love to do it that way-- it's just sooo much easier than brushing and drying specific parts.

Looking for a good body shop near East Brunswick

As the title says :) I need some paint work done (Door and front bumper)-- It's scratched down to the paint on the door (keyed) and on the bumper there's a bunch of little rollled up paint spots, like someone pushed up on the paint while it was wet. Thanks!

    Some nasty stuff

I'm getting my dad's car when I get my license in June (99 528i). Naturally, I'm obsessing over it. I've been trying to figure out every which way I can repair it, and I plan on detailing it pretty soon (spring break or late spring). He hasn't taken spectacular care of the car, but I'm sorry...
